Why does my back feel cold in summer

In the hot summer, many people would be troubled by the hot weather. However, some people always feel cold on their backs even in the summer. In fact, this is often caused by the lack of iron in the body, because it will affect energy metabolism. It may also be caused by low blood pressure or hypothyroidism, so we should pay attention to the analysis of the causes.

1. Iron deficiency. Iron is an important raw material for the production of hemoglobin in the human body, and hemoglobin is responsible for transporting oxygen in the body. People with iron deficiency have reduced oxygen supply to peripheral tissues, which leads to impaired energy metabolism of tissues. Due to insufficient heat production, the body feels abnormally cold.

2. Low blood pressure. Low blood pressure can cause poor peripheral blood circulation, and the body cannot get enough oxygen and energy, making people more susceptible to cold.

3. Hypothyroidism. American nutritionist Baird and others conducted an experiment in which they asked 120 middle-aged women in swimsuits to swim and then took a cold resistance test. The results showed that the average thyroid hormone content in the blood of the cold-sensitive group was more than 1 times lower than that of the non-cold-resistant group. Thyroid hormone accelerates metabolism and releases energy. It can also speed up blood circulation in the skin, thereby increasing body heat to resist the cold. If the body is deficient in iodine for a long time and the thyroid gland secretes insufficiently, the body will become afraid of cold due to insufficient heat production and reduced ability to resist cold.

4. The incidence rate of female patients suffering from chills is significantly higher than that of male patients. This is because women have less muscle mass than men to generate heat, and menstruation can easily lead to iron loss. In addition, menopausal women are also closely related to decreased estrogen levels. Because estrogen can affect the stability of neurovascular function, patients may experience cold hands, feet, or the whole body due to poor blood circulation.
