Indications

1. This product is mainly used to treat the following infections in children and adults who are allergic or resistant to penicillin and other β-lactams: acute tonsillitis, acute pharyngitis, sinusitis caused by hemolytic streptococci, pneumococcus, etc.; scarlet fever and cellulitis caused by hemolytic streptococci; diphtheria and diphtheria carriers; gas gangrene, anthrax, tetanus; actinomycosis; syphilis; listeriosis, etc.

2. Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia.

3. Chlamydia pneumoniae pneumonia.

4. Urinary and reproductive system infections caused by Chlamydia and Mycoplasma.

5. Chlamydia trachomatis conjunctivitis.

6. Oral infections caused by anaerobic bacteria.

7. Campylobacter jejuni enteritis.

8. pertussis.

9. Legionnaires’ disease.

10. Preventive medication for recurrence of rheumatic fever, infective endocarditis (after rheumatic heart disease, congenital heart disease, heart valve replacement) and oral and upper respiratory tract medical procedures (alternative to penicillin).

Adverse Reactions

1. Hepatotoxic reactions are more common after taking this product than after taking other erythromycin preparations. Patients may experience fatigue, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, rash, fever, etc. after taking the medicine for several days or 1 to 2 weeks. Jaundice may sometimes occur, and liver function tests may show cholestasis, which usually resolves after the drug is stopped.

2. Gastrointestinal reactions include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, upper and middle abdominal pain, pain in the mouth and tongue, decreased appetite, etc., and their incidence is related to the dosage.

3. When used in large doses (≥4g/day), especially in patients with liver or kidney diseases or elderly patients, hearing loss may occur, which is mainly related to excessively high blood drug concentrations (>12mg/L) and can usually be recovered after drug discontinuation.

4. Allergic reactions manifest as drug fever, rash, eosinophilia, etc., with an incidence of approximately 0.5% to 1%.

5. Occasionally, cardiac arrhythmias and oral or vaginal candidal infections may occur.
