Why do fingers peel in autumn?

The skin on the fingers is relatively thick, and this part of the skin can effectively block most of the bacteria and ensure that people will not be infected when they come into contact with some viruses and bacteria. However, the skin on your fingers changes frequently, and skin change is often manifested as peeling. Let’s take a look at why your fingers peel in autumn. I hope everyone can understand this aspect.

According to traditional Chinese medicine theory, the disease is mainly caused by blood deficiency and blood dryness, malnutrition of the skin, and dryness, heat and wind. The treatment should be to nourish the blood, moisten dryness, dispel wind and relieve itching. From the perspective of Western medicine, common causes of peeling hands include tinea manuum caused by fungal infection; contact dermatitis caused by chemical damage; and exfoliative keratolysis caused by congenital genetic factors.

Type 1: Peeling symptoms: White skin peels off on the surface of both hands, without itching or inflammation.

Treatment: Doctors point out that this is the most common and most likely symptom of hand keratin exfoliation in early autumn. Although it affects appearance, it generally does not require treatment. It will heal on its own after 2-3 weeks as long as you avoid contact with irritating chemicals such as soap and hand sanitizer. It can be combined with oral medication for treatment. For external treatment, the Chinese medicine Atractylodes lancea, Phellodendron chinense, and Atractylodes lancea are soaked in 30 grams each, and applied to the palms. Taking vitamin C at the same time will have better effects.

Type 2: Symptoms of dry dermatitis: white skin peeling off on both hands and cracks on fingers.

Treatment: Dry peeling in early autumn is most common in young and middle-aged women and is related to frequent hand washing with soap. During an outbreak, you should reduce the frequency of hand washing, avoid using alkaline soaps and hand sanitizers, and try to wear gloves when washing clothes. You can go to the hospital or pharmacy to buy antiseptic cleansing liquid such as Fu Kang Jie for external application.

Type 3: Symptoms of tinea manuum: Peeling occurs first on one hand and then spreads to both hands. The palms appear erythematous, inflamed, and itchy, and most patients with tinea manuum also suffer from tinea pedis.

Treatment: Because tinea manuum is caused by fungal infection and is contagious, you need to go to the hospital for early diagnosis and treatment, and insist on applying the repairing grass hand and foot ointment prescribed by the doctor. At the same time, if you suffer from foot sweats, you should seek treatment as soon as possible, otherwise it will easily spread and cause the disease to persist or even worsen. Although the symptoms of tinea manuum are rather stubborn, they can be cured through active treatment.
