What is the reason for brown spots on the face

As the saying goes: "Everyone has a love for beauty." Brown spots on the face are a worry for many women. In order to remove the spots, women run around in beauty salons and even spend a lot of money to buy expensive skin care products. In fact, neither skin care nor makeup has much effect on brown spots. Brown spots are not just the deposition of melanin, nor are they just skin problems. They better reflect a person's physical condition.

Traditional Chinese medicine emphasizes observation, auscultation, questioning and palpation, and one of the "auscultation" is looking at the complexion. A person's complexion can reflect his or her physical condition. For example, the five facial colors "blue, red, yellow, white and black" correspond to the five internal organs of the human body "liver, heart, spleen, lungs and kidneys".

Brown spots are generally distributed symmetrically on the face, mainly on the cheekbones, cheeks, nose, forehead, and upper lip, and generally do not affect the eyelids. The lesions are light brown to dark brown patches of varying sizes with distinct or diffuse margins, sometimes in the shape of a butterfly. No subjective symptoms. It is more common in women, especially those of childbearing age, but it can also occur in menopausal women, men and unmarried young women. Clinically, it can be divided into three types according to the location: ① The midface type is the most common, with lesions distributed on the forehead, cheek, upper lip, nose and chin; ② Cheek type: the lesions are mainly located on both cheeks and nose; ③ Mandibular type: the lesions are mainly located on the mandible, occasionally involving the "V"-shaped area of the neck. Classification can also be based on the depth of pigmentation, which can be examined with a Wood's lamp and divided into two types: epidermal and mixed. In the epidermal type, the pigmentation deepens under a Wood's lamp; in the dermal type, there is no obvious deepening; in the mixed type, both types can be seen. When examined under natural light, the surface type is light brown, the dermal type is bluish-gray, and the mixed type is dark brown. Chloasma may be slightly affected by factors such as changes in pigment endocrine secretion and sun exposure, and is more severe in summer and autumn. It may slowly subside in some patients after childbirth or after stopping oral contraceptives, but the course of chloasma in most patients is difficult to determine and may last for months or even years. In short, there are many reasons for brown spots. Next, we will analyze the specific reasons for the formation of brown spots.

1. Genetic factors:

The important reason for freckles is autosomal inheritance. Light brown to yellowish brown spots ranging in size from pinpoints to rice grains, symmetrically distributed on the face, or freckles on the nose.

2. Endocrine disorders

An important reason why women get spots on their faces is endocrine disorders. Changes in sex hormone levels in the body generally occur during menstruation and pregnancy. When there is endocrine disorder, there will often be unstable emotions, which will affect their own metabolic function, and can easily cause the formation of spots and affect the production of melanin.

3. Exposure to ultraviolet rays

The important reason why women develop spots is that spots are formed due to ultraviolet rays in sunlight. When the skin is exposed to too much sunlight, the epidermis will produce more melanin particles to protect the body from harm. However, when the skin is exposed to ultraviolet rays, it will make the skin more prone to spots under the condition of photosynthesis. At the same time, ultraviolet rays will deepen the original melanin, making the spots more serious.

4. Irregular living habits

Not paying attention to lifestyle habits, or having bad habits such as stress, picky eating, lack of sleep, etc., will lead to the continuous increase of melanin. If you have high stress in life, poor sleep quality, and lack of nutrient intake, your skin's metabolism will be reduced, causing spots to become more serious.
