The dirty, scaly scalp crust on the baby's head is also called cradle cap, which is related to genetic, nutritional and lifestyle factors. Children born to parents with excessive dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis are prone to cradle cap. Excessive androgen in the mother's body during late pregnancy can also cause cradle cap in the baby, which is a genetic factor. Factors such as the mother's diet, infant feeding conditions, and biotin may affect the amount of cradle cap. But living habits may be the most important factor. If you don't bathe or wash your baby's hair, the cradle cap will become thicker and thicker over time.

Some lighter cradle caps do not need to be treated and will generally disappear on their own after 4-6 months, but some need to be treated manually.

The easiest and most convenient way is to clean it with vegetable oil. To ensure the cleanliness of vegetable oil, it is generally necessary to heat and disinfect the vegetable oil (such as olive oil, sesame oil, peanut oil, etc.) and then cool it down before use. When cleaning the baby's scalp cradle cap, first apply cooled clean vegetable oil on the surface of the scalp cradle cap. Do not wash the oil off immediately. Wait until the scalp cradle cap becomes soft, and then use warm water to gently wash off the oil on the head. Depending on the severity of the cradle cap, wash it daily and it will usually disappear in 3-5 days. When cleaning, make sure the room temperature is between 24 and 26 degrees Celsius. After cleaning, be sure to wipe the baby's head dry with a dry towel to prevent cold.
