What are the causes of ulcerative stomatitis?

Ulcerative stomatitis is a relatively common disease. Its main cause is inseparable from bacterial infection, and most of these bacteria come from acute infections, long-term diarrhea and other diseases. For this disease, in addition to self-treatment, the best way is to pay more attention to care. The first thing to do is to maintain oral hygiene, actively brush your teeth in the morning and evening, rinse your mouth after meals, and also eat a light diet.

1. Causes of ulcerative stomatitis

Bacterial infectious stomatitis is often caused by streptococci and staphylococci as the main pathogens. If the oral cavity is not clean and the body's resistance is low due to acute infection, long-term diarrhea, etc., these bacteria will multiply and cause acute oral mucosal damage. At the onset, the oral mucosa is congested and edematous, followed by erosions or ulcers of varying sizes, with a grayish-white pseudomembrane formed by a thicker fibrinous inflammatory exudate. The causative agent of herpetic stomatitis is herpes simplex virus type I. A rash appears on the local skin, and exudation quickly occurs, forming blisters.

2. Treatment of ulcerative stomatitis

1. Control the infection promptly and carry out local and systemic treatment simultaneously. It is advisable to use systemic antibiotics, such as penicillin.

2. Clean your mouth thoroughly 1-2 times a day. 0.1% to 0.3% rivanol solution or 1:2000 chlorhexidine solution is commonly used for cleaning, and then local medication is applied, generally 2.5% chlortetracycline cod liver oil, tin powder, 1% gentian violet or ice boric oil.

3. Pay attention to keeping the baby's oral mucosa moist, feed water frequently, and give liquid and sugary drinks. The drinks should be warm or cool to prevent the growth of bacteria in the mouth. Supplement vitamin B, vitamin C, etc., and give medication or physical cooling when the fever is high.

3. Ulcerative stomatitis care

1. Diet and drinking water

Provide your baby with a nutritious, non-irritating liquid diet. Feed your baby water frequently to keep the oral mucosa clean and moist and prevent bacterial growth. The temperature of food and water should not be too hot or too cold, but lukewarm to avoid irritating the ulcer and causing pain.

2. Oral care

Remember to clean your baby's mouth thoroughly every day and then apply medication locally. Parents must be gentle when applying the medicine.

3. Observe the condition

Pay attention to the size, depth and distribution of the ulcer surface. Also pay attention to whether the baby has systemic symptoms such as increased body temperature, unwillingness to eat, weight loss, etc., so as to deal with them in time.
