What is the blood alcohol content considered drunk driving

In life, there are always gatherings with friends, family or company departments, and in China, drinking culture is particularly prevalent. If you arrive late, you have to drink a penalty drink; if you talk about business, you have to clink glasses to show respect; if you meet new friends, you have to raise a glass again, and so on. In short, drinking is inevitable. However, drinking alcohol is a headache for those who drive, as they cannot avoid being caught by the traffic police. This article will introduce how much alcohol is considered drunk driving.

Drunk driving is an important problem that every car owner may encounter. Most people probably still don't have a clear concept of what alcohol content in the blood is considered drunk driving. Some people may ask, "Does a bottle of beer count as drunk driving?" Does it count? Let's popularize the knowledge of drunk driving.

How much alcohol content is considered drunk driving

If a vehicle driver is suspected of drinking alcohol or taking psychotropic drugs or narcotic drugs under state control, the traffic management department of the public security organ shall draw blood or urine samples in a timely manner in accordance with the "Procedures for Handling Road Traffic Safety Violations" and send them to a qualified institution for inspection; if the vehicle driver dies on the spot, blood samples shall be drawn for inspection in a timely manner.

The traffic management department of the public security organ will notify the family of the driver of the inspected vehicle of the inspection (whether or not they are notified does not affect the inspection), except where it is impossible to notify.

(1) The determination of driving under the influence of alcohol or driving while drunk must be made through a blood test; it is not possible to judge whether a driver has been drinking or drunk solely based on the test results of a breathalyser.

(2) Criteria for determining driving under the influence of alcohol or driving under the influence of alcohol:

A. If the blood alcohol content is less than 20mg/100ml, it does not constitute drunk driving (not illegal);

B. Blood alcohol content ≥ 20mg/100ml is considered as drunk driving;

C. If the alcohol content in the blood is ≥80mg/100ml, it is considered as drunk driving.

Is one bottle of beer considered drunk driving?

Drink driving is not calculated by how much alcohol you drink, but by the amount of alcohol in your breath or blood.

According to regulations, a blood alcohol content of 20-80mg/100mL is considered drunk driving. If the blood level is higher than 80mg/100mL, it is considered drunk driving.

After one glass of beer, the alcohol content in the blood will reach about 20mg/100mL, while it only takes three or two glasses of low-alcohol liquor or two bottles of beer to reach 80mg/100mL for drunk driving.

When the blood alcohol concentration of a person reaches 80mg/100mL, the quantification of different types of alcohol is:

About 40g of 70° liquor;

About 60g of 60° liquor;

About 80g of 50° liquor;

About 120g of 40° liquor;

About 400g of Japanese sake;

About 480g of red wine;

About 2 bottles or 4 cans of beer.

To put it in perspective, if a bottle of beer is 600 ml and has an alcohol content of 3.5%, two bottles of beer would be equivalent to about two taels of liquor.

Conclusion: It is best to wait 10 hours after drinking two bottles of beer or 2 taels of liquor (most liquor nowadays is 38 degrees) before driving. The safest way is to wait one day, which is 24 hours!
