What should we pay attention to in order to protect our eyesight?

Many people have had this experience: at a young age, they suddenly feel that their eyesight is deteriorating and they even have to wear glasses for myopia. In fact, this phenomenon occurs because we do not pay attention to protecting our eyes in our daily lives. Experts remind us that when looking at computers, our eyesight should be lighter, we should not wear contact lenses when using computers, put a cup of hot water next to the computer, and we should not use eye drops while wearing contact lenses. If we insist on doing this, our eyesight will be well protected.

1. When looking at the computer, the eye power should be lighter. Working in front of a computer screen for a long time can easily lead to symptoms such as tearing, foreign body sensation, blurred vision and even decreased vision. This is mainly due to frequent close viewing, which causes the eye's accommodation to be "used frequently", and the lens, ciliary muscle and suspensory ligament are in a state of tension for a long time, causing discomfort such as tearing and foreign body sensation. In this regard, experts suggest: you might as well wear old glasses to ensure that your eyes are not permanently damaged due to fatigue caused by excessive adjustment. The power of your old glasses should preferably differ by 125 degrees from that of your new glasses.

2. Don't wear contact lenses when using a computer. The contact lenses that are commonly used today, although the materials of each brand are different, are all made of polymer materials. Under computer radiation, they will gradually decompose and deteriorate, causing the molecules of the original material to mutate. Some of these decomposed small molecules will reach the lens through the lymphatic circulatory system, combine with the repair tissue of the lens, and form new polymers. Generally speaking, a small amount of polymers will be discharged from the eyeball to the surface of the eyeball and eventually become earwax. When the amount is too much, debris will accumulate in the lens and gradually form cataracts. Therefore, if you wear contact lenses and often use computers, you must take off your glasses when you rest to avoid cataracts. Of course, it’s best to wear framed glasses when working.

3. Place a cup of hot water next to the computer. Staring at a computer screen for a long time can easily cause dry eyes, especially for internet addicts who like to stay up late to surf the Internet, which is a great harm to the eyes. Therefore, it is best to adjust the screen to 10-20cm lower than eye level to reduce the chance of eyelid lifting. In addition to giving your eyes more rest, you should also blink frequently to moisten your eyes. It is best to place a cup of hot water next to the computer to increase the surrounding humidity to reduce eye discomfort and effectively relieve dry eye syndrome.

4. Do not use eye drops while wearing contact lenses. When wearing contact lenses for a long time, dry eyes often occur. Some people will use eye drops to moisturize the eyeballs.

The combination of charged substances in contact lenses and eye drops can cause deposits to form on the lenses, leading to discomfort when worn. Among them, the mist-like sediment will change the refractive power of the lens, which will aggravate myopia over time; the granular sediment will rub and even damage the cornea and cause keratitis.

In addition, the adsorption capacity of contact lenses will absorb the preservative components of eye drops and concentrate them to 25 to 30 times, causing damage to the eyeball.
