How to regulate the obstruction of pericardium meridian

Blockage of the pericardium meridian will lead to pericardial effusion. Pericardial effusion is divided into infectious and non-infectious types. Middle-aged women are generally more likely to suffer from this disease. Patients with pericardial effusion generally experience chest tightness and shortness of breath, and usually feel intermittent heart pain. If they have these symptoms, they should seek medical attention immediately. There are many ways to treat pericardium meridian obstruction, including traditional Chinese medicine conditioning, internal medicine medication, surgery, etc. Let’s learn how to regulate the blockage of pericardium meridian!

1. Pericardial effusion is a common clinical manifestation and one of the important signs of pericardial disease. Pericardial effusion can be seen in exudative pericarditis and other non-inflammatory pericardial lesions and can usually be confirmed by physical examination and X-ray examination. When pericardial effusion persists for more than several months, it constitutes chronic pericardial effusion.

2. Once the disease is highly suspected, early surgical exploration should be performed. The surgical method is selected according to the characteristics of the lesion. The tumor can be removed for localized cases, but it is difficult to completely remove the tumor for diffuse cases. Pericardial opening decompression and pericardiectomy are optional surgical methods, and radiotherapy and chemotherapy can be given as appropriate, but the efficacy of various treatment methods is not ideal. The prognosis of this disease is very poor. The untreated course of the disease generally does not exceed 1 year. Cardiac tamponade and heart failure are the causes of death. Although treated, the prognosis of most patients is still difficult to improve, especially those with diffuse disease.

3. When this meridian is lesioned, the main symptoms are hot palms, cramps in elbows and arms, swollen armpits, chest and flank distension, heart pain, irritability, red face, yellow eyes, and unstable laughter.

4. To improve excessive pericardial effusion, you need to massage the Kunlun point on the bladder meridian, the Tanzhong point on the Ren meridian, and the entire pericardium meridian. It can be divided into three steps. The first step is to massage Kunlun acupoint, the second step is to massage Tanzhong acupoint, and the third step is to massage the pericardium meridian of both hands.

Step 1: Massage Kunlun acupoint

Kunlun point is located in the depression behind the ankle on the outside of both feet. The bladder meridian is the outlet for waste to be eliminated from all the meridians in the body, just like the body's large sewer. The meridians corresponding to the twelve internal organs of the body have corresponding acupoints on the bladder meridian. In actual practice, it was found that massaging the Kunlun point can effectively help the patency of the pericardium meridian, and the best effect is to massage the Kunlun point first and then massage other pericardium meridian-related acupoints. Therefore, this action should be the first step in improving pericardial effusion. When there is too much pericardial effusion, what accumulates is the body's waste water. Massaging the Kunlun point on the bladder meridian first can effectively clear the drainage outlet.

You can use the second knuckle of your index finger to massage the Kunlun point, or you can use a massage stick. The massage time is about one to three minutes. If you feel severe pain during the massage, the massage time can be longer. Usually, if there is no pain, it means that the meridians should be unobstructed. However, when the body's blood qi is very low, the body's nervous system will be sluggish, resulting in no pain even if the meridians are blocked.

By massaging the Kunlun point, you can hear the changes in the sound of flowing water under the ribs. Therefore, the ideal way is to listen to the sound of flowing water while massaging. After a period of time, you will be able to master the knack of massage.

Step 2: Massage the Tanzhong point

The Danzhong point is located on the Ren meridian on the midline of the front of the body, where the line connecting the two nipples intersects the midline of the body. You can use your thumb to massage the Tanzhong point. When there is too much pericardial effusion, this massage will cause strong pain. Massage for one to three minutes each time. Don't use too much force, otherwise it will hurt when you touch the area for the next few days.

The disadvantage of massaging the Danzhong point with hands is that it can easily cause intense pain. There is another method similar to Qigong that utilizes mind massage which does not have this disadvantage.

Place your fingers lightly on the Dan Zhong point without applying any force, just guide your mind to focus on the Dan Zhong point. After a few minutes, if you can feel a pulsation on your fingertips that is the same as your heartbeat, it means that your mind has been focused on that acupuncture point. Then continue for a period of time, the longer the better. This is mind massage, which is more effective than forceful massage. This method is used to massage the main acupoints on the chest and has a very good effect. However, it takes a period of practice to focus the mind on the acupuncture points on the limbs, so it is difficult to concentrate the mind on those areas.
