Causes and relief methods of back and spine bone pain

Changes in modern people's lifestyles have affected people's physical changes. Although many people now do not have to engage in strenuous production activities but sit comfortably in the office, bone pain in the waist and back spine is not far away from people. This pain is mostly caused by the human body maintaining a posture for a long time. Therefore, the first step in treatment is to correct the usual sitting posture with medicine, and at the same time do some appropriate exercise in daily life.

Reasons why the lower back is prone to disease

When humans stand upright, viewed from the side, the spine is not a vertical straight line to support the body, but is slightly S-shaped above the pelvis, and the pelvis is also slightly tilted relative to the ground. In this state, the body is subject to forward moving force, which puts too much burden on the waist. On the other hand, the neck has to support a head weighing 4 to 5 kg and maintain a high degree of flexibility to complete movements such as turning, raising, and lowering the head, which increases the burden on the neck. The shoulders and back support the head and neck. The shoulders hang two arms that account for 1/8 of the body weight. When the arms are holding heavy objects, the entire burden falls on the shoulders. It can be seen that when humans walked upright, they had to lift heavy objects or carry things in order to survive, and they had various skills. Therefore, the neck and waist, centered on the spine, often bore excessive burdens. In addition, the structure of the waist and back is precise, ingenious, and complex, so it is easy to be damaged and become sick.

Low back pain occurs in daily life

Posture is the most important factor in determining whether your lower back is healthy. Incorrect posture is the main cause of low back disease, which usually leads to premature and irreversible degeneration of the bones and joints of the spine, muscle imbalance and tension, and ligament relaxation or excessive tension, all of which can cause low back pain. Therefore, in daily life, bad postures, such as incorrect sitting, standing, walking and sleeping postures, long hours of reading, writing, watching TV and surfing the Internet at a desk, long hours of sitting in the office, incorrect carrying of objects, long hours of driving, too low work surfaces at home, trivial housework and sports injuries, etc. can cause low back pain or aggravate the clinical symptoms of low back pain. In the early stages of spondylosis, there are no obvious signs of neurological damage.

Commonly used treatments for low back pain

The treatment of low back pain can be divided into two types: surgical and non-surgical. Experts believe that most low back problems are caused by poor posture, improper use of muscles or soft tissue injuries. Therefore, conservative medical treatment, such as physical therapy, is generally used. Surgery is the last resort for treating low back pain and is only considered when the condition is severe enough to affect the patient's life, other treatments are ineffective, and it causes severe disability.

Drug treatment:

Although there are many Western medicines used to treat low back diseases, in terms of their pathogenesis, most of them are drugs that relieve symptoms and eliminate pain, but are not a cure.

Blockade therapy:

Blockade therapy is a method of eliminating inflammation and relieving pain by injecting anesthetics such as lidocaine and steroids into the painful area. However, blockade therapy may lead to infection due to local acute foreign body reaction, lax aseptic operation, and the use of hormones that reduce local defense function. If the infection is not healed for a long time, it may cause local tissue necrosis, abscesses and sinus tracts.

Nerve block therapy:

The treatment method of injecting drugs directly into or around peripheral nerve tissues such as nerve trunks, plexuses, spinal nerve roots, sympathetic ganglia, etc. to block the function of nerve conduction is called nerve block therapy. The main effect of this method is analgesia, but it can also cause adverse reactions similar to those of blockade therapy.

Traction therapy:

Traction therapy is a traditional treatment method that has been used in hospitals for a long time. It is often used in combination with rest for the patient. In the acute stage of severe low back disease, patients not only need to rest in bed, but also receive traction therapy according to their condition. Traction therapy is suitable for patients with acute and chronic low back pain, intervertebral disc herniation, lumbar facet joint disorder, cervical spondylosis and certain spinal instability. This treatment method is not suitable for spinal suppurative diseases, spinal tuberculosis, and spinal tumors.

Physical therapy:

Physical therapy is a method of applying physical factors to the human body to prevent and treat diseases, which is referred to as physical therapy. It includes the use of various natural and artificial physical factors. Artificial factors include electricity, magnetism, light, sound, heat, cold, etc., and natural factors include the use of sunlight, air, soil, mineral water, climate, etc. The application of physical factors to treat diseases has a very long history. Practice has shown that many diseases, whether in the acute, chronic or subacute stage, can be treated with physical therapy according to different diseases and specific conditions. It is not only widely and effectively used in clinical practice as a routine treatment method in hospitals, but many of them are also auxiliary therapies that we can use at home. Therefore, physical therapy has a dual effect on low back diseases, and can play a therapeutic and health-care role when used in different situations.
