Laundry soap is used in every family. However, the laundry soap currently available on the market is always considered unsafe for some families with babies. Some babies also develop skin diseases because of the chemicals and fluorescent agents contained in daily laundry soaps and laundry detergents. Therefore, in order to give the best to their babies, many mothers want to learn how to make handmade laundry soap to wash clothes for their babies. Next, let’s take a look at the recipes for handmade laundry soap. Tools needed: Alcohol lamp, tripod, asbestos net, 2 beakers, lighter, 2 thermometers, stirring rods, electronic scale (accurate to at least 1 gram), pH test paper, molds, vinegar (in a spray bottle) Required raw materials: base oil, sodium hydroxide (flaky alkali), distilled water, essential oil (optional) Use a scale to measure out a certain amount of base oil, sodium hydroxide, and water. Slowly pour the sodium hydroxide into the distilled water, stirring as you pour to help it dissolve. Sodium hydroxide will release a large amount of heat and even boil when it comes into contact with water. So please remember to pour the sodium hydroxide into the water. Don't reverse the order to avoid unnecessary trouble! Sodium hydroxide is a strong base. After it becomes an aqueous solution, its alkaline strength can be measured with pH paper. Heat the base oil over an alcohol burner and measure the temperature from time to time with a thermometer. When the heat reaches about 50 degrees, remove the beaker from the alcohol lamp. When measuring with a thermometer, be careful not to place the head of the thermometer at the bottom of the beaker, because the temperature there is the highest! You can use the thermometer to gently stir the base oil, which can make the temperature in the beaker more uniform and easier to measure. The sodium hydroxide aqueous solution does not need to be heated because sodium hydroxide releases a large amount of heat when it comes into contact with water. Just use another thermometer to measure from time to time whether the temperature of the sodium hydroxide aqueous solution has dropped to about 50 degrees while heating the base oil. If the base oil takes too long to heat up and the temperature of the sodium hydroxide aqueous solution is below 40 degrees, it needs to be heated again. Slowly pour the sodium hydroxide aqueous solution into the base oil little by little and stir. Stir quickly, but do not stir the mixed liquid so that it flies out of the beaker and causes unnecessary injury. After pouring, you still need to continue stirring, at least for 30 minutes, and up to more than 10 hours. During the stirring process, the temperature must also be kept at around 40 degrees, and you can measure it from time to time with a thermometer. If the temperature is too low, you can put it on an alcohol lamp to heat it again. However, do not let the temperature exceed 50 degrees during the entire process to avoid destroying the natural effective ingredients of the cold-pressed oil. After stirring, put it into the mold and place it in a cool and ventilated place. After 4-6 weeks, the soap will mature and can be removed from the mold for use. If you make soap often, put a label with the date on the mold to avoid confusion. |
