Urgent but infrequent urination

Urgent but infrequent urination

Many people in life experience frequent and urgent urination. In fact, most of them are caused by several factors. The most common ones are urinary tract infection or urethral lesions. There will also be pain when urinating, and the amount of urine is very small each time. The frequency of going to the toilet is also increasing. Therefore, everyone needs to go to the hospital to check the actual situation and choose the appropriate method of treatment.

What causes frequent urination and urgency?

Increased urine volume: When urine volume increases, the frequency of urination will also increase accordingly. Under physiological conditions, such as drinking a lot of water, eating watermelon, drinking beer, etc., due to the increase in water intake, the urine volume will increase through the regulation and filtration of the kidneys, and the frequency of urination will also increase, resulting in frequent urination; under pathological conditions, such as some patients with diabetes and diabetes insipidus who drink a lot of water, have a lot of urine, and urinate more frequently. But there was no discomfort in urination.

Inflammatory stimulation: When there are inflammatory symptoms in the prostate, the nerve perception threshold is lowered, the gate that controls urination fails, resulting in frequent urination and reduced urine volume (<300-500 ml/time in adults). Therefore, frequent urination is an important symptom of prostatitis, especially in chronic prostatitis. Other conditions such as cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis, chronic balanoposthitis in children, vulvitis, etc. can also cause frequent urination. Under the stimulation of inflammatory symptoms, frequent urination, urgency and pain often occur at the same time, which is called urinary tract irritation syndrome, commonly known as "triuria syndrome".

Non-inflammatory stimuli: such as prostate atrophy and foreign bodies, can also cause symptoms of frequent urination.

Genital infection: Genital infection causes lesions in the organs of the reproductive and urinary system and impairs their functions. Male reproductive infections include urethritis, mycoplasma infection, chlamydia infection and some transmitted diseases. The symptoms of reproductive infection diseases mainly include common symptoms such as frequent urination, painful urination, and difficulty urinating to varying degrees.

Psychoneural urinary frequency: Frequent urination only occurs during the day or before falling asleep at night, and is often caused by mental stress or occurs in patients with hysteria. This may also be accompanied by urinary urgency and pain.

Urethral and seasonal factors: If you have frequent urination but small amount of urine each time, no painful expression when urinating, and no other symptoms, you should first consider local factors, such as inflammation of the urethral orifice, excessive foreskin, or pinworm irritation to the genitals. In addition, due to seasonal factors, polyuria in winter is a normal phenomenon.

Dietary polyuria: If you have frequent urination and a large amount of urine each time, but no other symptoms, you should first pay attention to whether you drink too much water, especially those who like to drink tea.

Neurogenic urinary frequency: The bladder detrusor muscle is underdeveloped and the nerves are not sound, which may lead to daytime spot polyuria, up to 20 to 30 times, but normal urination at night. There is a tendency of recurring attacks, and urine tests are normal. This disease is not caused by inflammation.

Urinary tract inflammation: If you have frequent urination, painful urination, or fever, you should consider a urinary tract infection, such as cystitis, pyelonephritis, etc. In addition, diseases such as prostatitis and prostatic hyperplasia are also the main causes of frequent urination.
