Anal pain when urinating

Anal pain is a common type of anorectal disease. Anal pain mainly manifests itself during bowel movements, with a burning pain that may last from ten minutes to several hours. Be careful with this symptom, as it may be caused by anal fissures or some momentary high temperature stimulation. Also be careful of sudden pain during bowel movements, as it may be anorectal diseases such as hemorrhoids.

Anal pain is the most common symptom of anorectal disease. The specific manifestations of anal pain are divided into two categories: related to defecation and unrelated to defecation, and the causes of these two types of pain are also different.

Anal pain is related to bowel movements: It is generally manifested as a burning pain during bowel movements, followed by periodic severe pain after bowel movements, which may last from ten minutes to several hours. This condition is mostly caused by anal fissure. If the patient has a history of internal hemorrhoid prolapse, the pain is mostly caused by the inability of the internal hemorrhoids to retract after defecation, causing local edema and persistent pain. In this case, it is mostly strangulated internal hemorrhoids.

Another situation is that there is a needle-like pain on one side of the anus during defecation, and the pain disappears naturally a few minutes after defecation. It is mostly anal cryptitis. Sudden pain occurs during defecation, and a purple-black round lump appears on one side of the skin near the anus. In severe cases, the lump is shiny and accompanied by persistent pain. Thrombosed external hemorrhoids should be considered.

Anal pain is not related to defecation: redness and swelling appear around the anus for unknown reasons, accompanied by systemic symptoms such as fever, swelling and throbbing pain around the anus and in the anal canal, and the pain continues to worsen. Sometimes a lump can be felt around the anus, and some people also have a feeling of falling. Most of these symptoms are caused by infection around the anus. If the symptoms persist for a long time, continue to worsen, and are accompanied by a feeling of falling and increased frequency of bowel movements, and occasionally irregular lumps can be felt in the anus, anal canal cancer should be suspected.
