Cigarettes are very common in our daily lives. Most of the nicotine in cigarettes is produced. Continuing to smoke when high blood pressure occurs can be life-threatening and can also cause cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

People with high blood pressure must not smoke! Smoking not only harms the health of the lungs, but also causes severe high blood pressure and even more serious cardiovascular diseases!

Medically confirmed, each cigarette releases more than 4,000 chemical substances and billions of particles when it burns, including 69 carcinogens such as nicotine, carbon monoxide, tar, ammonia, and benzene. When a large amount of harmful substances in tobacco are inhaled into the human body, they will adhere to the tracheal walls and alveoli, easily leading to bronchitis, emphysema and even lung cancer. The carbon monoxide can significantly reduce the oxygen content in the blood, easily causing cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases such as high blood pressure.

What is Hypertension

The human heart is equivalent to a blood pump, transporting blood in the heart to every corner of the body. Through numerous large and small blood vessels in the body, it relies on the highly rhythmic diastole-contraction mechanical movement to transport blood through blood vessels to organs throughout the body without stopping, supplying oxygen, taking away waste, and ensuring the body's metabolism.

During the continuous contraction movement, the lateral pressure exerted by the blood flowing in the blood vessels on the blood vessel wall per unit area is called blood pressure. There are three types of blood pressure: arterial blood pressure, venous blood pressure and capillary blood pressure. The blood pressure measured in hospitals is usually arterial blood pressure, while the blood pressure monitors used in daily life generally refer to capillary blood pressure.

The biggest feature of hypertension is that it is highly hidden. In the early stages of the disease, most patients will not experience any discomfort and their bodies may appear calm on the surface, but there are "undercurrents" inside. Increased blood pressure will increase the shear stress on the blood vessel wall, thereby aggravating the damage to the vascular endothelium. Once the vascular endothelium is damaged, arterial stiffness increases, vascular elasticity decreases, and arteriosclerosis gradually forms.

Pathogenesis of hypertension

Since high blood pressure is random, once triggered by external media, it will cause high blood pressure. This should be a normal stress response, but how can the disease of hypertension occur?

Hypertension triggered by the external environment will return to normal after the stimulus disappears. However, the blood pressure of hypertensive patients remains high. The high blood pressure can seriously damage the blood vessels and even endanger important organs such as the heart, brain, and kidneys, eventually causing a series of serious complications from hypertension.

There are only two causes of hypertension. The first is primary hypertension, which is when the blood vessels lack certain nutrients, causing the blood vessels to become stiff and gradually lose elasticity, making blood flow difficult. At this time, the heart has to increase pressure to transport blood, resulting in hypertension. The second is secondary hypertension. If the triglycerides and cholesterol in the blood are too high, the blood viscosity is too high, the blood flow slows down, and many attachments will be deposited on the blood vessels. The blood cannot pass smoothly, which will cause high blood pressure.
