How to tell if you have hemorrhoid polyps?

Polyp hemorrhoids are also a type of falling from bed. Polyp hemorrhoids may also cause rectal cancer, which is a common malignant tumor. However, ordinary hemorrhoids are not a big deal. Generally, hemorrhoids will cause bleeding during defecation in the early stage, and may prolapse of the anus after defecation in the middle stage. In the late stage, the main symptom is frequent prolapse.

Early

The main symptoms are bleeding during bowel movements, with a large amount of blood, sometimes dripping, and sometimes spurting like a spring, without pain or other discomfort. Over time it can cause anemia, dizziness, shortness of breath, and fatigue.

Mid-term

Hemorrhoids will protrude from the anus after defecation. Generally, the hemorrhoids can return to the anus by themselves after defecation. When internal hemorrhoids develop to the late stage, the hemorrhoids will prolapse after defecation and cannot return to the anus. They need to be pushed back by hand or after rest. In severe cases, the anus may fall out during coughing, exertion, work or labor. The anus often feels wet and uncomfortable due to increased secretions, and the underwear may become contaminated. If the hemorrhoids become infected and inflamed due to friction from clothes, they will become swollen and painful and cannot be pushed back into the anus and may even become necrotic. This is called incarcerated hemorrhoids.

Middle to late stage

Hemorrhoids usually develop as the surface of hemorrhoids gradually becomes fibrotic, the amount of bleeding decreases, and prolapse becomes the main symptom.

harm

For most people, hemorrhoids are not scary and will not cause other serious harm. The main and only symptom of internal hemorrhoids in the early stage is painless bloody stool, which is characterized by intermittent bloody stool, bright red color, or attached to the surface of the stool, or blood-stained toilet paper, or drip-like or spurting bleeding. If bloody stool lasts for a long time, it can cause anemia. If the internal hemorrhoids develop further, the hemorrhoids will prolapse during defecation. In mild cases, they will return to the anus on their own after defecation, while in severe cases, they need to be pushed back in by hand. When internal hemorrhoids prolapse and are not reduced in time, incarceration edema, thrombosis, ulcers or infection may occur, causing severe pain. External hemorrhoids generally have no symptoms, except for occasional discomfort and swelling in the anus. However, when blood clots or edema occur, it will cause pain. Mixed hemorrhoids have the common characteristics of internal hemorrhoids and external hemorrhoids. In addition, foreign body sensation in the anus, contaminated underwear, and local itching are also common symptoms.

Features

Hemorrhoids are a common and frequently occurring disease. There is a saying among the Chinese people that "nine out of ten people have hemorrhoids", which shows that this type of disease is very common. In 1977, my country conducted an anorectal disease survey in 29 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions across the country, targeting 76,692 people in factories, mines, government agencies, schools, the military, the service industry, street residents, farmers, fishermen and other fields. A statistical analysis was conducted on 57,297 people with complete data. The results showed that there were 33,837 people suffering from anorectal diseases, with a total incidence of 59.1%, which means that nearly six out of ten people suffer from this disease. Hemorrhoids had the highest incidence, accounting for 87.25% of the total number of cases (internal hemorrhoids accounted for 59.86%, external hemorrhoids accounted for 16.1%, and mixed hemorrhoids accounted for 24.13%). Other anorectal diseases accounted for 12.75%, including anal fissures accounted for 4.12%, anal papilla hypertrophy accounted for 2.85%, anal fistula accounted for 1.67%, rectal prolapse accounted for 0.58%, rectal polyps accounted for 0.28%, anal itching accounted for 0.17%, and other anorectal diseases accounted for 3.08%. The survey results also show that hemorrhoids mostly occur in adults, and are related to sitting or standing for long periods of time, lack of activity, constipation, diarrhea, prolonged defecation, drinking, and a preference for spicy food. The incidence rate is higher in women than in men, and the highest incidence rate is internal hemorrhoids. In recent years, the incidence rate has increased significantly due to changes in dietary structure and eating habits.

The survey results show that anorectal diseases mostly occur in adults. The onset of the disease is related to sitting or standing for a long time, lack of activity, constipation, diarrhea, prolonged defecation, drinking, and a preference for spicy food. The incidence rate is higher in women than in men. Among all anorectal diseases, hemorrhoids have the highest incidence rate.

(1) There are more female patients than male patients. Women are more likely to develop the disease than men due to pregnancy and childbirth. As the fetus grows after pregnancy, abdominal pressure will continue to increase, especially in the late pregnancy. The inferior vena artery is compressed by the increasingly expanding uterus, which directly affects blood return, causing congestion and expansion of the hemorrhoidal venous plexus. In addition, the struggle during delivery often causes varying degrees of perineal tears, aggravating venous return disorders. As a result, many women develop hemorrhoids, anal fissures, hypertrophy of anal papillae, rectal prolapse and other anorectal diseases after pregnancy and delivery. The incidence rate in men is 53.9%; the incidence rate in women is 67%.

(2) Most patients are adults. The survey results show that the incidence of anorectal diseases increases with age. The incidence rate among those under 20 years old is only 32%. The rate continues to increase for people over 20 years old, reaching 59.5% for 21-30 years old, 69.9% for 31-40 years old, 72.4% for 41-50 years old, 74.1% for 51-60 years old and 75.5% for people over 60 years old. It increases in a stepped manner, reflecting that the incidence rate is low among children and young people and high among adults. The older the age, the more people are sick.

(3) People who sit or stand for long periods of time and have little physical activity are more likely to suffer from diseases. In terms of occupation, car drivers, barbers, salesmen, and policemen have the highest incidence rate, at 81.7%; followed by cadres, at 71.5%; workers, at 70.3%; farmers, at 62%; soldiers, at 32.6%; and students, at 19.2%. The Ming Dynasty's "Surgery Authentic" (1617) proposed the view that "sitting for a long time can cause poor blood circulation... resulting in turbid air and blood stasis flowing into the anus, all of which can cause hemorrhoids." Standing, sitting or walking for a long time will keep the human body in a fixed posture for a long time, which will affect blood circulation and cause blood stasis in the pelvic cavity, causing congestion, varicose veins and bulging of hemorrhoidal veins, which will increase the chances of anorectal diseases. Workers who frequently change body positions, active young people, soldiers, and farmers who work in a variety of body positions have fewer cases because their blood circulation disorders are less likely to be disturbed and their anorectal areas are less likely to become congested.

(4) People who suffer from constipation, diarrhea, or prolonged bowel movements are more likely to suffer from the disease. Constipation and diarrhea are reactions to intestinal dysfunction, which can directly cause many diseases of the large intestine and anus. For example, among the 2,669 constipation patients surveyed, 1,989 suffered from anorectal diseases, with an incidence rate of 74.5%; among the 1,523 diarrhea patients, 1,013 suffered from anorectal diseases, with an incidence rate of 66.5%. Some people like to read books and newspapers while defecating, and squat in the toilet for a long time without getting up. This can easily aggravate the congestion of the anorectal area, causing hemorrhoids, rectal mucosal prolapse, anal sphincter relaxation and other anorectal diseases. It is really a very bad habit. In addition, excessive force during defecation can easily cause diseases such as prolapsed hemorrhoids and rectal prolapse, so you should also pay attention to this.

(5) Excessive drinking and a preference for spicy food may be the triggering factors of the disease. Chili peppers, alcohol, etc. have a direct stimulating effect on the rectal mucosa. If you eat too much of these foods, you will feel burning pain when defecating. Although it is not necessarily the direct cause of anorectal disease, it plays a certain role in inducing and aggravating anorectal disease. According to the survey, people who drink too much and like spicy food are more likely to suffer from anorectal diseases.

(6) Hemorrhoids have the highest incidence among anorectal diseases. The incidence of hemorrhoids accounts for 87.25% of the total number of patients; among them, internal hemorrhoids are the most common, accounting for 59.86% of the number of hemorrhoids; external hemorrhoids account for 16.01%, and mixed hemorrhoids account for 24.13%. Other anorectal diseases account for 12.75%. Among them, anal fissures account for 4.12%; anal papilla hypertrophy accounts for 2.85%; anal fistula accounts for 1.67%; rectal prolapse accounts for 0.58%, rectal polyps account for 0.28%; anal pruritus accounts for 0.17%; other anorectal diseases account for 3.08%. From this point of view, hemorrhoids are the most common and frequently occurring anorectal diseases.
