Can children get nasopharyngeal cancer? Who is more likely to get nasopharyngeal cancer?

The cause of nasopharyngeal carcinoma is still unclear. In addition to genetic and viral factors, it is also related to diet, environment, and lifestyle habits. People who are susceptible to nasopharyngeal carcinoma should pay attention to the occurrence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

my country is one of the countries with a high incidence of nasopharyngeal cancer. About 80% of the world's nasopharyngeal cancer occurs in my country, and there is a clear regional difference between high in the south and low in the north. The incidence of nasopharyngeal cancer in the southern coastal areas of my country ranks among the highest in the world. The following groups of people are susceptible:

First, people who live in high-incidence areas of NPC in my country and are over 40 years old should be alert to the occurrence of NPC. People whose family members or relatives have NPC are at high risk of NPC. The incidence of NPC has obvious familial clustering, and about 10% of NPC patients have a familial tendency.

Second, some people have bad living habits, which can lead to a decline in physical fitness and nasopharyngeal cancer in the long term. For example, eating habits, liking to eat pickled food, salted fish, etc., or smoking habits. The incidence of nasopharyngeal cancer is high in coastal areas, which is related to the habit of residents in this area to eat salted fish. Frequent consumption of pickled food can increase the incidence of nasopharyngeal tumors by 2-7 times.

Third, the occurrence of nasopharyngeal cancer is also related to viral infection. Therefore, if a person carries such a virus in his body, he is likely to develop nasopharyngeal cancer, such as Epstein-Barr virus infection. Therefore, everyone should check their bodies regularly and remove the lesions of nasopharyngeal cancer in time. Epstein-Barr virus infection has been confirmed to be a high-risk factor for nasopharyngeal tumors. More than 90% of nasopharyngeal cancer patients are Epstein-Barr virus positive, but those who are positive do not necessarily develop nasopharyngeal tumors.
