This is how you should take care of your teeth after orthodontic correction!

Malpositioned teeth is the most common symptom that people experience. Some people have it due to poor tooth development since childhood, while others have it acquired later. Regardless of the cause, orthodontic treatment is required in a timely manner after it occurs, but this is a very long process. Patients also need care after correction. Only in this way can the situation be completely improved and there will be no recurrence. They should also go to the hospital regularly for relevant follow-up examinations, so that they can judge how their teeth are recovering. If something bad happens, they should actively cooperate with the doctor's relevant treatment, which will be conducive to the improvement of orthodontic treatment.

1. Normal reaction after wearing braces for the first time: After wearing braces for the first time, the patient will have some discomfort in the mouth, such as toothache, mucosal damage, ulcers, etc. Such phenomena can generally be alleviated or eliminated in about three days to a week. Severe pain is abnormal and you should seek medical attention immediately.

2. Oral hygiene: Brush your teeth every morning, evening and after three meals, for at least three minutes each time. Use a high-quality toothbrush with soft bristles and a small head. There should be no food residue on the braces and tooth surfaces. You need to rinse your mouth after eating snacks and drinking sweet or sour beverages.

3. Diet: Avoid chewing hard foods, such as popsicles, ribs, chicken legs, beef jerky, and snacks with cores and shells. Avoid chewing sticky foods such as chewing gum, glutinous rice products, milk candy, etc. Try not to drink beverages with high sugar content, such as cola, Sprite, juice, etc. Fruits such as peaches and apples should be cut into small pieces before eating, or squeezed into juice

4. Damage and repair of braces: If the braces are damaged, they should be properly preserved, the damaged parts should not be lost, and the doctor should be contacted in time to repair them as soon as possible to avoid affecting the treatment course and efficacy.

5. Cooperation of patients and parents: The course of correctional treatment is relatively long. During this period, patients, parents and doctors must cooperate well to achieve satisfactory results. Fixed appliances require follow-up visits every 3 to 4 weeks, and removable appliances require follow-up visits every 2 weeks. Therefore, patients should be fully prepared mentally, not be impatient for success, and try to avoid giving up halfway.

6. Cleaning of braces: If you wear removable braces, you must clean the braces and thoroughly clean your teeth every morning and before going to bed before wearing them again. When not being worn, dental braces must be placed in clean water.
