How much do you know about the treatment of mushroom poisoning

We all know that eating fungal vegetables can improve the body's immunity. Mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, and enoki mushrooms that we eat on a daily basis are all fungal foods, and their taste is also very popular among people. However, it should be noted that some fungal ingredients are poisonous, especially wild mushrooms that you picked yourself. If you cannot tell whether they are poisonous or not, it is best not to eat them. So what should you do if you unfortunately eat poisonous mushrooms? Here we remind everyone to find a way to induce vomiting and then seek medical attention in time.

Toxicity : Different poisonous mushrooms contain different types of toxins. Most poisonous mushrooms have low toxicity and the symptoms of poisoning are mild. But some mushroom toxins are extremely toxic and can quickly kill people. The toxins contained in poisonous mushrooms are not yet fully understood. The following are some of the more toxic toxins: toxin peptides mainly damage the liver; amanita muscaria causes liver and kidney damage; cyprinoside acts like acetylcholine; cyprinosides cause hallucinations and mental symptoms; and cyprinosides cause red blood cell destruction.

Poisoning symptoms : Different poisonous mushrooms contain different toxins, and the symptoms of poisoning caused are also different, but they can generally be divided into the following four categories:

1. Gastroenteritis type : Patients with this type will experience weakness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and watery diarrhea 10 minutes to 2 hours after eating mushrooms. Recovery is quick and the prognosis is good. There are many mushrooms that produce such symptoms, such as: red mushroom, milk mushroom, boletus, orange-red poison cap, poison light cap, moon mushroom, wax cap, ring-shaped mushroom, etc.

2. Neuropsychiatric type : 10 minutes to 6 hours after eating, in addition to the symptoms of gastroenteritis, there are also pupil constriction, increased salivation, excitement, hallucinations, unsteady gait, etc.

3. Hemolytic type : The incubation period is 6 to 12 hours. In addition to the symptoms of gastroenteritis, there are also hemolytic symptoms, such as anemia and liver enlargement. This type of poisoning can usually be cured through treatment with corticosteroids and blood transfusions.

4. Hepatitis type : Gastroenteritis-type symptoms appear 10 to 30 hours after eating. Some patients may have a false recovery period, and then show symptoms of damage to multiple organs such as liver, brain, heart, and kidneys, but liver damage is the most serious. Some patients may have mental symptoms. The general course of the disease is 2 to 3 weeks. The mortality rate is high.

The dangers of mushrooms do not end there. Many poisonous mushrooms have a vicious trick to deceive people - false healing periods. Among them, the most typical is that soon after eating this mushroom, the eater will have severe reactions such as nausea and vomiting, and then the symptoms will gradually ease, and it seems that everything is fine, but it is actually false! At this time, the transaminase in the eater's body has risen sharply and the liver has been damaged. After 48 hours, the discomfort symptoms reappeared. At this point, even if Hua Tuo were alive, he would be helpless. If you experience any discomfort after eating wild mushrooms, be sure to take a sample and go to the hospital to seek professional help as soon as possible. Be careful not to miss the golden period of treatment because of a momentary fluke. At present, as long as they receive timely treatment, almost all patients with boletus poisoning can escape danger, which can be considered a blessing in disguise.

Emergency treatment : Because the incubation period of mushroom poisoning is long, and some symptoms of mushroom poisoning quickly worsen once they appear, you should go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment in time after eating suspected poisonous mushrooms. If you show symptoms, go to the hospital as soon as possible.
