What should I do if my finger is cut by a knife?

In daily life, knife is a very commonly used kitchen utensil. Because the blade is quite sharp, many people often accidentally cut their fingers when using a knife, causing bleeding and causing great pain to the injured. Wounds can be deep or shallow, and different types of wounds require different treatments. Next, I will introduce to you how to deal with knife cuts on your fingers.

1. The wound is relatively shallow

The wound is small, there is little bleeding, the skin near the wound is relatively clean, and the fingers can bend freely.

Don't worry too much or be too anxious at this time.

You can use medical iodine for disinfection. Dip a cotton ball in the iodine and scrub the wound. After the wound is dry, cover it with gauze or a bandage.

Taboo: Avoid getting water on the wound.

2. Deep wound

When I was a child, I was cut deeply by a knife. I could see the flesh inside the wound. I used some folk remedies to treat it and there was no problem at all. But nowadays, medicine is advanced and it is no longer recommended. I just want to tell everyone not to panic.

If the wound is bleeding profusely, you should first stop the bleeding by applying pressure, and then go to the hospital to be treated by a professional doctor.

3. Cut off fingers

Some operations are dangerous and can easily result in fingers being cut off or strangled if you are not careful. If this happens, you can proceed as follows:

Step 1: Stop the bleeding. When a finger is cut off, the blood will continue to flow from the cut, so you need to lift the finger up. It is best to ask for help and find clean gauze to bandage the wound. If the bleeding still cannot be stopped at this time, wrap a tourniquet tightly around the base of the finger (you can use a regular cleaning rope instead) to stop the bleeding.

Step 2: Wrap the severed finger with sterile gauze and put it in a clean plastic bag. Do not rinse it with water yourself unless it is severely contaminated.

Step 3: Go to the hospital immediately and find the relevant attending physician for emergency treatment.
