Why do I urinate frequently in winter?

Many people usually have such symptoms. When the weather gets cold, they are prone to frequent urination, especially in winter. This symptom is most obvious. Although they only drink a little water, they will also experience frequent urination. However, most people often do not pay attention to this symptom. In fact, if the frequency of frequent urination increases, you must pay more attention, as it may be that there is something abnormal with your health.

Why do I urinate frequently in winter?

1. The temperature is low in winter and people sweat less. The temperature is low in winter, and the body loses less water. The excess water can only be excreted through urine, which is when the urine volume increases. In the summer, due to excessive sweating, water can be discharged from the body through sweat. Therefore, even if you drink more water, you will still urinate less.

2. More consumption in winter. Human body temperature is maintained by converting the food we eat every day into heat energy. When it is cold, the body will need more heat energy, and more starch and fat will be consumed. The consumed starch and fat form carbon dioxide and water. The carbon dioxide is excreted from the body through breathing, while the water is excreted from the body through urine.

3. Drink more water. The weather is cold and dry, so many people like to drink more hot water. Drinking too much water may lead to frequent urination.

4. Weak constitution and weak kidney qi. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that increased urination is closely related to kidney deficiency. This is because the drop in temperature in winter will damage the body's yang energy, and the functioning of the kidneys is inseparable from the role of yang energy. Water can only rise and flow under the action of yang energy. Therefore, for people who originally have insufficient kidney qi, the lack of water and qi in the body will lead to frequent urination.

5. Urinary tract infection. Urinary tract infection refers to the invasion of some external pathogenic microorganisms into our urinary system, causing inflammation of the urinary system organs and a series of clinical symptoms. One of the symptoms is frequent and urgent urination. At this time, urine routine examination, kidney B-ultrasound and other examinations should be done in time to exclude pathological causes, make a clear diagnosis and provide timely treatment.

6. Prostatitis. Prostatitis can also cause frequent urination by irritating the bladder. The capacity of a normal bladder that causes urination is 250-450 ml, but when the bladder excitability increases, urination will occur as soon as there is 20-100 ml in the bladder. Therefore, patients with prostatitis must go to the hospital for treatment in time.
