Mania is the root cause of many diseases!

Mania is the root cause of many diseases!

Mania refers to some people who are abnormally excited, overly excited, talkative, and constantly working with their hands and feet, yet never feel tired and their behavior is rather exaggerated. At the same time, they are also particularly easy to be irritated and will fly into a rage if things don't go their way. They may even hit others. Many diseases are related to mania. Let’s take a look at the symptoms and complications of mania.

Mania and depression are both affective and mental disorders, but their manifestations are completely opposite. Depression is mainly manifested by extremely low mood, which can cause serious harm such as slow thinking and neurasthenia in severe cases. Mania is characterized by extremely high emotions, inflated self-esteem, incessant talking, increased appetite and sexual desire, and decreased need for sleep.

The details are as follows:

(1) High spirits: Feeling good about oneself, such as feeling that one’s mind is particularly sharp, one’s body is particularly healthy, or one is particularly energetic.

(2) Irritability: They may fly into a rage over trivial matters or when their opinions are not accepted or refuted, and may even hurt people and destroy things. But the next moment, they may act as if nothing has happened and be at ease.

(3) Accelerated thinking: Associations are accelerated, or ideas are erratic, or one feels that the speed of speaking cannot keep up with the speed of thinking, attention is not focused or sustained, or one is distracted by the environment. Patients generally have an overly high self-evaluation and exaggerate their superior intelligence, talent, health, status and wealth. They are also arrogant and domineering, which may reach the level of delusion.

(4) Increased speech and actions: The person speaks significantly more than usual, needs less sleep, and does not feel tired. He is full of energy and more active. He likes to visit other people and meddle in other people's affairs. He is busy and tireless, but often his activities are incomplete and lack results. He has an increased appetite and a significantly increased sexual desire. He behaves frivolously and likes to get close to the opposite sex.

(5) After the manic symptoms subside, there are no delusions or hallucinations whose content is inconsistent with the mood symptoms, nor are there bizarre behaviors or clusters of nervous symptoms.

In addition to mental harm, mania can also cause physical harm, such as asthma, migraine, cardiovascular disease, multiple sclerosis, etc. So, where are the main dangers of mania?

Common complications of mania:

1. Asthma: Relevant data show that people with asthma are five times more likely to suffer from manic depression than the general population. Correspondingly, the prevalence of asthma in people with mania is significantly higher than that in the general population.

2. Migraine: The probability of migraine in patients with manic depression is significantly higher than that of the general population, especially for low-income people, and it is more common in women and people with manic type II.

3. Cardiovascular disease: Studies have shown that patients with mania have a higher relative risk of experiencing multiple fatal cardiac events than patients without the disease. These include arrhythmia, stroke prevalence, hypertension prevalence, and peripheral vascular disease prevalence.

4. Multiple sclerosis: As a neurological disease, facts show that at least 10% of multiple sclerosis patients are identified to suffer from manic depression at the same time. And medical science shows that the occurrence of manic depression is related to the nerve damage caused by multiple sclerosis. When people develop multiple sclerosis, mania may precede other neurological symptoms.
