What is the recipe for handmade soap?

In daily life, people often use soap. Soap can be used to wash hands, wash clothes, and some soaps can even be used to wash faces. It is also often used when taking a bath. Therefore, soap is a daily necessity in the household. However, some people think that soap bought outside may be harmful to health. At this time, you can make healthy and environmentally friendly handmade soap by yourself. The specific production method is as follows.

First, traditional methods

The handmade soap made using this traditional method is the better cold-process soap on the market. The production tutorial of cold-process soap and related formulas are all described in detail with pictures and texts. The raw materials for cold-process handmade soap are vegetable oil, water and sodium hydroxide.

The basic steps are as follows:

1. Before making soap, you need to accurately weigh the amount of oil, sodium hydroxide and water.

2. Dissolve the alkali with water. Put the water and alkali in a container and stir until the water becomes transparent. It should be noted that foaming and heat will occur during the stirring process.

3. Add oil while stirring. After the alkali is completely dissolved, add more oil gradually while stirring. Then you can start to focus on stirring the soap. The stirring time of soap varies depending on the formula, but the stirring time of pure oil is usually longer.

4. After the soap liquid is stirred until it becomes viscous, it can be poured into the mold.

5. Leave it intact in a warm place for 1 to 2 days. At this time, the liquid produces a chemical reaction in the mold, please do not touch it with your hands.

6. Finally, cut into cubes of appropriate size and place in a ventilated place away from direct sunlight. After more than a month, the production is completed.

Second, cold method

(Cold Process is referred to as CP)

The process of saponifying the triglyceride components in oils and fats with alkaline solution is generally called cold process soap. Cold process soap is the oldest soap making method. Making your own cold process soap allows you to have complete control over the raw materials, and you can also customize a piece of handmade soap to suit your needs. However, because the soap just made is highly alkaline and has a high water content, it needs to mature for 3 to 4 weeks before it can be used.

From the oil formula to rubbing a bar of soap into soft foam in your hands, the ecstatic sense of accomplishment is something that people who have never made handmade soap cannot understand.

Generally, cold-process soaps rich in oleic acid will have a drawing effect.

Third, thermal method

(HotProcess is referred to as HP)

The hot process uses heat to accelerate saponification. The advantage is that it does not require a 3-4 week maturation period. The disadvantage is that the soap is not as delicate as that made by the cold process, and the essence of the oil is easily lost through high temperature production.

Fourth, regeneration soap making method

Also known as grinding soap (Rebatching)

If you are not satisfied with the finished product after using the cold process or want to make it into a desired shape, you can cut the soap into small pieces or shred it, add appropriate amount of water, heat it again, and put it back into the mold.

5. Liquid Soap Method

Liquid soap mainly uses potassium hydroxide as the saponification raw material. The difference from cold-process soap is that cold-process soap forms a harder solid soap through the crystallization of sodium. Potassium is more soluble than sodium and less likely to form crystals. Therefore, the liquid formed by the soap looks clear and transparent.
