What are the indicators of lung function test?

With the development of science and technology, our quality of life has been greatly improved, but with the improvement of quality of life, more and more people suffer from various diseases. However, many people are reluctant to go to the hospital for physical examinations. They are very afraid of seeing a doctor for fear of finding out some disease. But in the end, they feel extremely unwell and go to the hospital for examination. The consequences are already difficult to control. Therefore, it is very important to go to the hospital for regular check-ups. Among them, the examination of lung function is very important. As the quality of the air we breathe becomes worse and worse, our lungs are not as healthy and strong as before, so it is very important to check the lungs. So what are the normal indicators of lung function tests?

1. Lung volume measurement

Lung capacity measurement includes 8 indicators: tidal volume, inspiratory reserve volume, expiratory reserve volume, residual volume, deep inspiratory capacity, vital capacity, functional residual capacity, and total lung capacity; pulmonary ventilation function measurement includes resting minute ventilation, alveolar ventilation, maximum ventilation, forced vital capacity, peak expiratory flow, etc.

2. Pulmonary function test

The results of pulmonary function tests help determine whether there is ventilation dysfunction, as well as the nature and extent of the dysfunction, and can serve as an auxiliary means of diagnosing certain lung diseases. Pulmonary function tests can also be used as an important indicator for judging the efficacy of treatment to guide and evaluate clinical treatment; preoperative pulmonary function tests in thoracic surgery can help determine the safety of surgery; in the field of labor hygiene and occupational diseases, it can be used to understand the impact of the working environment on lung function and identify the workforce. With the development of medicine and other scientific technologies, lung function tests will become more popular and perfect and play a greater role.

3. Exercise test

Through a certain amount of exercise load, observe the changes in cardiopulmonary function indicators. The human respiratory and circulatory organs have a large functional reserve, so cardiopulmonary function can be impaired before symptoms appear. Exercise testing can more sensitively show early changes in lung function. Shortness of breath is a common symptom, and exercise testing can help determine whether the shortness of breath is caused by a disease of the heart and lungs or by mental factors. The former can cause changes in cardiopulmonary function through exercise testing, while the latter has no obvious changes.

In addition to medical history, physical signs and chest X-rays, labor force identification of occupational diseases such as silicosis also includes lung function tests or exercise tests in the early stages of the disease, which are important objective indicators.

Exercise testing can induce cardiopulmonary dysfunction or symptoms in some patients, which is called a provocative test. For some asthma patients, exercise provocation tests may cause reduced pulmonary ventilation function or even asthma attacks. Exercise stimulation tests can induce symptoms such as electrocardiogram changes or angina attacks in patients with early coronary heart disease.
