What causes puffy eyelids?

What causes puffy eyelids?

There are many reasons for eyelid swelling. First of all, it is related to genetics. Some people are born with more subcutaneous fat, which appears thicker, giving people the feeling of eyelid swelling. In addition, it is caused by bad living habits. The most common one is poor sleep and rest, which will affect the blood flow back to the face, leading to eyelid swelling. In addition, drinking too much water at night will cause water poisoning, which is also prone to this situation. Similar situations are generally well recovered after good conditioning and will naturally subside. However, pathological eyelid edema should be taken seriously, such as eyelid edema caused by kidney disease.

Causes

Physiological

1. Physiological eyelid edema: Physiological edema is mostly caused by poor sleep at night or a pillow that is too low when sleeping, which affects blood return to the face. This type of eyelid edema is more common in healthy people, has no effect on the body, and often disappears naturally.

Pathological

2. Pathological eyelid edema: Pathological eyelid edema is divided into inflammatory eyelid edema and non-inflammatory eyelid edema. In addition to eyelid edema, the former also has local redness, heat, pain and other symptoms. The causes include acute eyelid inflammation, eyelid trauma, or periocular inflammation. Most of the latter do not have symptoms such as local redness, heat, and swelling. Common causes are allergic diseases or allergies to eye drops, heart disease, hypothyroidism, acute and chronic nephritis, and idiopathic neurovascular eyelid edema.

What to do if your eyelids are swollen

1. As for puffy eyes, as long as you don't have any disease, pay attention to sleep. In fact, the simplest way is to make sure your eyes get enough rest and nutrition.

2. When your eyes are tired, take a rest, sit down and do eye exercises, close your eyes and relax.

3. You must rest for 2 hours between 11pm and 1am. Eat more foods rich in vitamin A, such as animal liver, carrots, etc. You can usually make some chrysanthemum green tea or cassia seed green tea.

4. In fact, these things are the simplest and most effective, but in daily life not many people take them seriously and cannot stick to them.

5. As long as you persist and form a lifestyle habit, your eyes will naturally be healthy. When your eyes are healthy, the swelling will naturally disappear.

6. If you have any disease, I agree with the above statement. It is best to go to the hospital to check your kidneys.

7. The kidneys are responsible for excretion. If there is a problem with the kidneys, water excretion will be abnormal and will be stored in the body in other forms, the most common being the eyes and legs.

8. Don’t drink too much water at night. If you drink too much, it will not be excreted at night and will be stored in other parts of the body, such as the eyes.
