What are the prevention and treatment methods for insect bite dermatitis

There are more mosquitoes in the summer, and the weather is very humid, so many people are prone to various skin diseases in the summer, because most of the skin in the summer is exposed to the outside, but it is possible that the invasion of moisture and toxic gases will cause skin inflammation, so many people often suffer from dermatitis, and the characteristics of dermatitis are papules, wheals and local ecchymosis. Large areas of small red spots may appear on the surface, which are relatively harmful. Common symptoms are burning, itching, unbearable stinging, and local discomfort, hot and painful feeling. We have no way to relieve it in time, and very painful symptoms will appear. Therefore, we should use anti-allergic drugs in normal times, and then cooperate with the application method for treatment. We should also pay attention to maintaining a constant temperature and do not use irritating items to clean the local area.

Clinical characteristics

1. High incidence season: Summer and autumn.

2. Prevalent areas: exposed areas.

3. Characteristics of the rash: local redness, swelling, papules, wheals or ecchymoses, blisters and bullae may appear on the surface, and bite marks may be seen in the center of the lesions.

4. Subjective symptoms: tingling, burning pain, and itching.

5. Histopathology: Infiltration of lymphocytes, histiocytes and eosinophils around blood vessels and between collagen fibers in the superficial and deep dermis. Limited localized epidermal prickle cell edema and dermal papillary edema; in severe cases, intraepidermal or subepidermal blisters may form.

Prevention and treatment

1. Antihistamine drug chlorpheniramine 4 mg orally 3 times a day

Cetirizine 10 mg orally once a night

2. Hormone treatment: 15-20 mg/day of prednisone, gradually reducing the dosage.

3. Antibiotics can be given in case of concurrent infection.

4. Calamine lotion.

5. Apply local cold and wet compress.

Insect bite dermatitis, also known as "papular urticaria", is mainly related to the bites of arthropods, such as mites, and is more common in spring, summer and autumn. Different insect species and body reactivity can cause different skin reactions at the bite site. It is generally a red edematous papule with small blisters in the center, the size of soybeans, and is more common in exposed areas and around the waist.

Treatment can be done by applying compound anti-inflammatory cream externally and taking antihistamines orally.
