Still's disease is a polyarticular disease that is most common in childhood and is a type of rheumatoid arthritis. Patients with Still's disease will have long-term irregular fever, as well as enlarged liver, lymph nodes, spleen, and symptoms of anemia and leukocytosis. Still's disease is different from rheumatoid arthritis in adults, and the systemic symptoms of this disease are very prominent. After Still's disease occurs, it must be treated with scientific medication. Traditional Chinese medicine can be used for conditioning, and the effect is also very good. In addition, you must pay attention to diet and health care in your daily life. Don't eat too much high-protein, high-vitamin food, and eat low-sugar and low-salt food, eat small meals frequently, and don't eat irritating food. Medication treatment for Still's disease:

1. You can try antibiotics plus corticosteroids. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are effective in reducing fever and relieving joint symptoms. Cyclophosphamide can also be tried. The prognosis of this disease is generally good.

2. Traditional Chinese Medicine

Treatment method: Nourish yin, clear heat, and neutralize qi and blood.

Prescription: 30g of southern and northern Adenophora, 15g of Dendrobium, 15g of Rehmannia, 15g of Ophiopogon japonicus, 15g of Radix Angelicae Pubescentis, 15g of Radix Arnebiae, 15g of Radix Polygoni Multiflori, 15g of Millettia Spatholobi, 10g of Uncaria rhynchophylla, 15g of Salvia miltiorrhiza, 15g of red and white paeoniae, 15g of Angelica sinensis, and 10g of Codonopsis pilosula.

Analysis: The southern and northern Adenophora, Dendrobium, Rehmannia, and Ophiopogon japonicus in the prescription nourish yin and reduce fire; Caulis ophiopogonis, Polygonum multiflorum, Millettia reticulata, and Uncaria rhynchophylla harmonize yin and yang, nourish blood and unclog the meridians; Salvia miltiorrhiza, red and white paeonia, Chinese angelica, and Codonopsis pilosula neutralize qi and blood. For those with high fever, add antelope powder or rhino horn powder, raw hawksbill turtle, Imperata root, etc.; for those with obvious joint pain, add Gentiana macrophylla, geranium, and Stretching grass, etc.

Local treatment: ① External use of cooling ointment; ② External use of coptis ointment; ③ Antipruritic powder: talc 30g, cold water stone 9g, pine pollen 10g, borneol 1.5g, mix well and spread.

Diet and health care for Still's disease:

Eat a balanced diet. Be careful to eat high-protein, high-vitamin, medium-fat, medium-calorie, low-sugar, low-salt foods, small meals frequently, and less irritating foods. Cooked food should have good color, aroma, taste and be easy to digest. The appropriate ratio of carbohydrates, protein and fat in the diet is 3:2:1. Use more vegetable oils, such as salad oil, corn oil, olive oil, sunflower oil, soybean oil, rapeseed oil, etc. The best ratio of vegetable oil to animal oil is 2:1.

Symptoms and signs of Still's disease

The disease can occur in both men and women, and is more common in children aged 2 to 10 years old.

1. The fever is of the remittent type, generally above 39-40°C, and the temperature fluctuation range can reach 2-3°C per day. The patient's body temperature may be very high, but the symptoms of poisoning are slightly milder and the general condition is good. Fever may recur after 1 to 2 weeks, sometimes presenting as persistent fever, and the fever may last for months to years.

2. Rash Fever and rash often exist at the same time. The rash is polymorphic and variable. It can present in various forms such as macules, papules, urticaria, scarlet fever-like erythema, measles-like erythema, erythema multiforme and erythema nodosum. Varying in size and irregular in distribution. Pigmentation may remain after fading. The rash often recurs.

3. Joint symptoms can affect large and small joints of the limbs, manifesting as pain, mild swelling, and migratory pain. Symptoms worsen during fever and resolve on their own when fever subsides.

4. Other symptoms may include pericarditis, myocarditis, pleurisy, hepatosplenomegaly and jaundice. Superficial lymph nodes are swollen, mostly in the sides of the neck, armpits, and groin, with no significant tenderness.
