What to do if your ear is infected with fungus

What to do if your ear is infected with fungus

Fungal infections are common in daily life and can lead to a variety of diseases, among which fungal infections of the ear canal are also relatively common. This is mainly because fungi invade the inside through the external auditory canal, causing lesions, which often cause acute or chronic infections in the external auditory canal. They are also prone to bacterial infections, which often cause discomfort in the external auditory canal, causing itching and swelling. Sometimes it can cause blockage of the external auditory canal, causing hearing impairment and hearing loss in patients. There are many causes, such as water in the ears, otitis media, etc. Antifungal infection treatment should be carried out promptly after the illness.

Key point: Going to a regular hospital’s ENT department in time is the key!

Teachers often use the following treatment methods to treat fungal otitis externa:

1. Clean the external auditory canal dirt promptly and regularly. After it dries, use salicylic acid ethanol ear drops to prevent recurrence.

2. When the external auditory canal is itchy or flaky, you may apply antifungal ointment (such as Daconil, Pevisone, etc.) as appropriate;

3. For patients with severe conditions who cannot use ear drops, oral itraconazole can be used if necessary, but liver and kidney function need to be checked regularly. (This is why you can use Daknin!)

So troublesome? ! ! So how can we prevent mold in the external auditory canal in our daily life?

First of all, keep the external auditory canal dry, correct bad ear-picking habits, and actively treat diseases such as otitis media and external auditory canal eczema.

Secondly, patients who have been infected should go to the ENT department for treatment in time.

Finally, in daily life, we should pay attention to the personalization of toiletries to avoid fungal infections. At the same time, we should eat a light diet, avoid spicy food, drink water frequently, and eat more fresh fruits and vegetables.

Therefore, don’t pick your ears all the time, especially if you have athlete’s foot or if you like to have your ears cleaned in a foot massage parlor. You should be more careful!

Friendly reminder: Fungal otitis externa is more prone to recurrence than bacterial infection, so multiple follow-up visits are required. It’s always right to listen to your doctor!
