The rats were intragastrically administered 0.3 ml of 20% decoction of Rehmannia glutinosa every day for 45 days. The rats were killed and their blood was collected to determine the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and the content of lipid peroxides (LPO). Results Rehmannia root could enhance the activity of GSH-Px and reduce the content of LPO in serum, compared with the control group, P<0.05 and P<0.01 respectively.
