What causes calluses on feet

I believe many of my friends will find that calluses easily appear on their feet. Some friends don’t feel anything and think that it is fine as long as it does not affect their walking. However, some friends feel that these calluses make them very uncomfortable and need to be removed in time. The appearance of calluses is actually related to everyone’s living habits, such as excessive walking, excessive friction, uncomfortable shoes and so on. To deal with calluses, you can actually clean the dead skin by soaking in hot water and then using a pumice stone. Don't clean calluses too often, because frequent foot trimming can easily irritate the stratum corneum of the skin, which will only make the calluses grow faster.

What are calluses on soles of feet? Calluses on the soles of the feet are mostly caused by hyperplasia of the epithelial tissue on the feet, which is related to skin aging, excessive walking, and excessive friction.

Generally speaking, it is easier to deal with thin calluses when they have just grown. You can soak your feet in warm water to allow the stratum corneum to absorb moisture and become soft and white, and then gently rub them off with a light and porous pumice stone. If the calluses are thick, you should seek help from a dermatologist or a regular pedicurist, who will use a sterilized scalpel or safety blade to remove the calluses layer by layer. After a period of time, the calluses will usually grow again, and the process needs to be repeated many times. But it must be noted that pedicure should not be done too frequently, otherwise it will stimulate skin keratinization and calluses will form faster. In addition, avoid tearing off the calluses yourself or using scissors or nail clippers to remove calluses, because this will not only make the skin uneven at the trimmed area, but the calluses will also tend to become thicker and harder.

There are several common methods to remove calluses and dead skin on the soles of your feet :

1. Clean, soak and soften the cuticles. The cuticles of the feet are thicker than those of other parts of the body. The first step in maintenance is to clean, soak and soften the cuticles. Soak your feet in warm water before exfoliating to soften dry and hard cuticles and help promote blood circulation.

2. Remove the rough and hard cuticles. After soaking and softening, you can start exfoliating. Massage your feet with a pumice stone and foot scrub to remove keratinized skin and calluses.

3. Nourish and moisturize your feet After exfoliating, you can use glycerin to moisturize and massage your feet, or even wear cotton socks after applying lotion to allow the oil to be absorbed more smoothly.

In order to prevent calluses from forming on the thyroid points on the soles of the feet, the elderly should wear shoes of moderate size, soft and comfortable, and put soft insoles inside the shoes. Do some proper foot massage and care every day and apply a thick layer of moisturizing cream on your feet to soften calluses.
