What is tapping therapy?

Traditional Chinese medicine once said that if the circulation is unobstructed, there will be no pain, and if there is pain, there is obstruct This sentence is directed at tapping therapy, which refers to rhythmically tapping certain parts of the body with a wooden hammer or stick. The intensity of the tapping should be determined according to the severity of the disease. The tapping is used to make the blood flow smoothly in the body. But how exactly is this tapping therapy performed?

1. Patting method

When hitting, hold the racket with appropriate tightness, and mainly use the wrist strength to hit, while the forearm only serves to support the up and down movement of the wrist. You need to learn how to master the patting technique with both hands so that you can switch back and forth when you feel tired. Especially when you are patting yourself, some parts can only be patted with one hand, so it is necessary to learn how to pat with both hands. Each time you tap, start with a light technique, then gradually increase the strength. Only when the tapping is almost over, can you tap again on certain key meridian points. Patting can be divided into three types according to the intensity of the force used.

1. Patting method: Use light force when tapping, which is mostly used for the elderly and infirm, children and patients receiving treatment for the first time, or for areas with thin muscles (such as joints) and areas with important organs.

2. Medium patting method: Pat with medium force, until there is a slight pain. Suitable for most people and most parts of the body.

3. Heavy patting method: Use heavier force, not only wrist strength but also forearm strength to pat. There will be pain when patting, but it should be tolerable. This method is mostly used for people with a strong physique, or for returning patients with good physique but stubborn conditions, or when patting areas with thick muscles such as the sacrum and arms.

2. Beat the rhythm

There are different rhythms such as "Qi Li Beat", "Four One Four", "Three Six Nine", etc. The commonly used beat now is the "414" beat. That is, after hitting one beat, hit four beats in a row; hit another beat, and then hit four beats in a row. Rhythmic patting can save energy and make patients feel comfortable.

3. Tap Order

Tap in order to avoid missing any. The general principle is to start from left to right, from top to bottom, and from near to far. Generally, you should first pat the midline of the back, then the lateral lines on both sides of the spine, then the upper limbs, and finally the lower limbs, from proximal to distal. When the disease occurs on both sides, pat the left side first, then the right side. Specifically for a certain limb, you should hit the front side, then the back side, the inside side, then the outside side. You should hit them closely one after another. Each side should be hit repeatedly 3-5 times, and the pulse point on that side should be hit 3-5 times. You can only hit in the forward direction, not in the reverse direction.
