Is lymphadenopathy serious?

Lymphatic tuberculosis is common in children and adolescents. This disease usually occurs when the body's resistance is low. When the disease first starts, there are usually multiple swollen lymph nodes in the neck. At first, the lymph nodes are painless and movable. As the disease worsens, the lymph nodes will stick to each other due to inflammation. In the end, the lymph nodes will slowly turn into abscesses. So is lymphadenopathy serious?

01Symptoms

When adolescent patients become ill, they will have many symptoms such as fever, sweating, weight loss, loss of appetite, and even anorexia. If the patient's condition worsens, these symptoms will be significantly aggravated. However, different patients have different severity of the disease. The symptoms may not be exactly the same. A biopsy is recommended to confirm the condition. It is best to go to a professional hospital for examination as soon as you discover the disease to avoid delaying the disease.

In the early stage, lymph node tuberculosis is the size of a finger, one or several, with unchanged skin color, firm when pressed, movable when pushed, and painless. In the middle stage, the volume of the diseased lymph nodes gradually increases, they adhere to the surrounding tissues and their activity gradually decreases. Some lumps fuse together to form clusters of lumps that cannot be pushed and gradually become painful. If the skin color gradually turns dark red, and there is a slight heat and fluctuation when pressed, it means that pus has formed inside the body. Accompanied by low fever, night sweats, anorexia, irritability, fatigue, etc.

In the late stage, some abscesses of lymph node tuberculosis rupture spontaneously, and cheesy, thin pus mixed with rotten cotton-like substances flows out. The wound is latent (empty shell) with dark purple surroundings. It heals on one side and ulcerates on the other, forming sinus tracts that do not heal for a long time. The sinus tract of lymphadenopathy can have multiple branches extending in all directions, some of which are several centimeters deep. This type is also called ulcerative type clinically. The whole body is accompanied by hot flashes, bone steaming, cough, night sweats, or pale complexion, mental fatigue, dizziness, and insomnia.

02Cooperation inspection

Pay attention to nutrition and rest during treatment. The doctor will make an appropriate treatment plan based on the examination results. General treatment method: systemic anti-tuberculosis treatment. Treatment of localized tuberculous lymph nodes. A small number of localized, larger, and movable lymph nodes can be removed surgically.

03Early treatment

Everyone's condition is different. Different test results will lead to different treatment plans. The severity of the disease depends on how early it is discovered. Early detection, early diagnosis and early treatment are generally recommended. Many people will delay treatment due to some psychological factors.

04 Notes:

It is recommended to go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible to avoid delaying the treatment. Never go to some specialized hospitals. It is best to go to a public general hospital and listen to the doctor's advice. Don’t be too stressed in your daily life. Many patients’ conditions worsen due to psychological pressure. Don’t overwork yourself, rest more and pay attention to nutrition.
