How to care for acute apical periodontitis?

Many people think that acute apical periodontitis is a shoulder disease. In fact, it is a dental disease that can cause toothache, swollen and painful gums, periodontal tissue ulcers, redness and swelling, inflammation of the periodontal membrane and alveolar bone, and purulent infection. Patients with acute apical periodontitis should do a good job of prevention through diet and lifestyle adjustments in their daily lives. This will make it easier to recover from the disease when combined with medication or surgical treatment.

Diet and health care

Apical periodontitis is often accompanied by toothache, so it is not suitable to eat spicy and irritating foods.

1. Cured: No symptoms or signs for at least 1 year after treatment; X-rays show normal periapical periodontium.

2. Improvement: After treatment, the pain disappears, the swelling or ulcers disappear, and X-rays show that the periapical lesions are significantly reduced.

3. Unhealed : After treatment, fistulas are formed or there is recurrent swelling and pain, and periapical lesions do not shrink.

The most important thing to prevent dental diseases is daily teeth cleaning: brush your teeth correctly, use the up and down vertical brushing method, brush your teeth in the morning and evening, and brush each tooth surface 8-10 times; rinse your mouth after meals; use dental floss to clean the spaces between adjacent teeth; chew xylitol gum for about 20 minutes; change to a new toothbrush every month; see a dentist every 3 months, treat illnesses if they exist, and prevent them if they don't; pay attention to the amount of fluoride toothpaste used (especially for children), generally a pea-sized amount is enough; brush your teeth with appropriate force, and replace the toothbrush if the bristles are turned outward; if you do not have periodontal disease, go to the dentist for a teeth cleaning once a year, and go to a dentist with good disinfection facilities to avoid infection with hepatitis B and AIDS; in addition, be careful to drink less carbonated beverages.
