What are some good treatments for skin tumors

Skin tumor is a relatively common disease. Skin tumors are divided into benign and malignant. Most skin tumors are benign. There are many treatment methods. At present, surgery is the most commonly used method for treating skin tumors. In addition, radiotherapy, systemic treatment, curettage and cryotherapy are also relatively common treatment methods.

1. Surgical treatment of skin tumors:

Surgery is one of the main treatments for skin tumors and is the main treatment for most skin tumor patients. The extent of resection should be determined by tumor size and depth of invasion. For basal cell carcinoma with small lesions and clear superficial boundaries, a margin of 0.5-1CM is usually sufficient to achieve cure. However, for lesions with large range and deep and extensive infiltration, wide resection with a margin of 3-5CM should be performed. Frozen section examination should be performed during surgery until the resection margin is negative. Some basal cell carcinomas with negative resection margins may still have a local recurrence rate of about 5%.

2. Radiotherapy for skin tumors:

Skin tumors are very sensitive to radiotherapy, and radiotherapy alone can often achieve the goal of cure. Skin cancers of the nose, eyes, lips, eyelids, and inner and outer chin areas may be treated with radiation therapy if wide surgical excision is difficult. For basal cell carcinoma with small lesions and clear boundaries, a 5mm irradiation range from the edge can achieve the goal of cure. However, as the lesion grows, the range of skin tumor infiltration to the surrounding and deep parts also expands. Especially in cases where the boundaries are not clear, the irradiation field should be expanded to 2-3CM or larger from the edge of the tumor.

3. Systemic treatment of skin tumors:

Systemic therapy is mainly suitable for patients with advanced skin tumors who are not suitable for surgical resection or radiotherapy; and patients suspected of having residual lesions and metastases after surgery and/or radiotherapy. Systemic chemotherapy is required for patients with squamous cell carcinoma at the junction of the skin and mucosa that develops on the basis of existing scars, who have low immune function, and those who have regional lymph node and distant metastasis.

4. Scraping to treat skin tumors:

Scraping treatment of skin tumors is generally treated with curettage and electrodesiccation. Basal cell carcinoma and superficial squamous cell carcinoma are treated by utilizing the boundary between the tumor and the surrounding normal skin color. The advantage is that a smooth and aesthetically pleasing wound with little pigmentation can be obtained. The disadvantage is that there are no pathological examination results of the resection margin, and it is impossible to know whether there is any residual cancer at the resection margin, so this method should be used with caution.

5. Cryotherapy of skin tumors:

For some cases of skin tumors rich in fibrous components that are not conducive to curettage; cases that relapse after curettage and radiotherapy are more suitable for cryosurgery. However, the lesions must be limited to the skin. Those that have invaded other tissues and organs are not suitable for cryotherapy.

6. Traditional Chinese medicine treatment of skin tumors:

The main method is to use drugs to cut off the replication function of cancer cells, that is, to cut off the important division method of cancer cells - microtubule protein synthesis, so that the cell volume gradually shrinks, forming stable anti-cancer cells in the blood vessels, thereby improving the body's metabolic function. That is, by inhibiting the respiration of cancer cells, the cancer cells are deprived of blood and oxygen and no longer fission, thus achieving the purpose of treating skin tumors.
