What causes black gums

There are many reasons for the blackening of gums, the main one being the lack of attention to oral hygiene. 1. Smoking causes black gums:

2. Drugs cause black gums:

Some medications people take on a daily basis may change the color of the oral mucosa and teeth. Among them, tetracycline can cause black gums, especially during the growth and development of children. If children take too much tetracycline, their teeth will be constantly stimulated by the drugs, which will cause black spots to appear on the surface of the teeth.

3. Tooth decay causes black gums:

If there is a problem with oral hygiene and there is too much dental plaque, it will corrode the tissue on the surface of the teeth, form cavities, and cause the gums to turn black.
