What are the symptoms of gastrointestinal cold?

Gastrointestinal cold is actually a cold caused by the infection of the stomach and intestines by a certain bacteria. For this type of cold, more symptoms will appear in the stomach and intestines, such as vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, eye discomfort, etc. If your own judgment is uncertain, you should seek medical examination and diagnosis, so that the condition can be stabilized and treated more quickly.

1. Vomiting: Pathogens or other toxic substances enter the stomach, causing the stomach muscles to contract and expel the stomach contents from the body. The stomach will feel uncomfortable, nauseous and then vomit.

2. Diarrhea: It is mainly caused by irritation of the intestines, which leads to a large increase in secretions, affecting the absorption function, causing excessive water in the intestinal cavity. In addition, intestinal peristalsis also increases, so the stools discharged are loose stools. Sometimes diarrhea will continue, leading to dehydration and collapse. This symptom must be treated by a doctor for diarrhea.

3. Abdominal pain: Pain is felt because intestinal peristalsis is twice as fast as normal, or the mucosa on the intestinal wall becomes red, swollen and painful due to inflammation. Although the redness and swelling cannot be seen, the pain can be felt.

4. Eye discomfort , high fever, acute headache, diarrhea, and nausea may be caused by enterovirus.

5. Throat pain like a knife cutting , difficulty swallowing saliva, dizziness, fever, abdominal pain and diarrhea should be attributed to enterovirus infection.

Generally speaking, gastrointestinal colds are mainly caused by viral infections such as adenovirus, calicivirus, influenza virus, and coronavirus, and often occur in elderly people with weak digestive tract function. The cold virus will take advantage of the opportunity to penetrate into the digestive tract and cause digestive tract mucosal reactions, mainly manifested as poor appetite, upper abdominal blockage, acid reflux, heartburn, and even nausea and vomiting, sometimes accompanied by mild abdominal pain, watery diarrhea, etc., while the common upper respiratory tract symptoms of colds are not obvious, so it is easy to confuse people with acute gastroenteritis.
