What are the manifestations and examination methods of ureteral stenosis?

Physiological stenosis of the fallopian tube refers to the narrowness of the lumen due to congenital reasons, which can easily lead to urinary tract obstruction in women and even cause symptoms such as hydronephrosis. It is easy to induce infection and cause patients to have low back pain and fever. If you do not pay attention to timely treatment, it may even induce more serious uremia. At this time, you should check it in time, and after a good examination, then give symptomatic treatment.

Clinical manifestations

1. Lower back pain on the affected side, sometimes the kidney with water accumulation can be felt.

2. When infection occurs, there may be chills, fever or pyuria.

3. Bilateral ureteral stenosis may lead to renal insufficiency or even uremia.

examine

1. Ultrasound examination

Ureteral dilatation and hydronephrosis can be seen above the narrow segment. Learn about renal cortical thickness.

2. Isotope nephrography

Obstructive renal images can be seen to understand the renal function.

3. Intravenous pyelography (IVP)

Shows the degree of hydronephrosis and the location of stenosis. If the upper urinary tract on the affected side cannot be visualized, further examination is required in combination with other methods.

4. Ureteral retrograde catheterization

If the ureteral catheter can pass through the stricture, the level of ureteral stricture and the length of the stricture can be confirmed. If the ureteral catheter cannot pass through the stricture, other examination methods can be used to determine the level and possible length of the stricture.

5. CT urography (CTU) and magnetic resonance urography (MRU)

Without the use of contrast agents, both can well show the degree of dilatation of the ureter and renal pelvis above the obstruction site.
