What does erythromycin enteric-coated capsule treat?

You may be more familiar with erythromycin, but what are erythromycin enteric-coated capsules? From the name, we know that it must be a capsule. In fact, erythromycin enteric-coated capsules are an antibiotic. The main ingredient of the drug is erythromycin. It can be used by both adults and children. It is mainly used for respiratory tract infections and lung infections in adults or children. The following is a detailed introduction to what erythromycin enteric-coated capsules are mainly used to treat.

This product is mainly used to treat the following diseases in children and adults :

1. Mild or moderate respiratory tract infections caused by β-hemolytic streptococci, pneumococci, and Haemophilus influenzae.

2. Mild or moderate lower respiratory tract infections caused by β-hemolytic streptococci and pneumococci.

3. Respiratory tract infection caused by Mycoplasma pneumoniae.

4. Whooping cough caused by Bordetella pertussis: Erythromycin can effectively eliminate the whooping cough bacteria in the patient's throat. Clinical studies have shown that erythromycin can prevent susceptible people from being infected with whooping cough.

5. Diphtheria: Diphtheria is caused by toxins produced by Corynebacterium diphtheriae. Erythromycin can prevent susceptible people from becoming diphtheria carriers or eradicate the bacteria in carriers.

6. Erythrasma caused by Corynebacterium parvum.

7. Intestinal amebiasis caused by Entamoeba histolytica.

8. Mononucleosis caused by Listeria monocytogenes.

9. Mild to moderate infections of the skin and soft tissue caused by Streptococcus pyogenes and Staphylococcus aureus.

10. Early syphilis caused by Treponema pallidum: For patients who are allergic to penicillin, oral erythromycin can be used as an option for the treatment of early syphilis. Before treating early syphilis, cerebrospinal fluid examination must be performed; erythromycin is not recommended for the treatment of intrauterine syphilis.

11. The following diseases caused by Chlamydia trachomatis: neonatal conjunctivitis, pneumonia in young children, urinary and reproductive system infections during pregnancy; when tetracycline is contraindicated or cannot be tolerated, erythromycin can be used to treat urinary, cervical and rectal infections in adults caused by Chlamydia trachomatis.
