What should I do if I have ear eczema?

Eczema is one of the diseases with a particularly high incidence in spring and summer. It is prone to occur in infants and young children, causing great inconvenience to their lives. If eczema is not controlled and treated in time, it can easily spread to other parts of the body, such as ears, buttocks, etc. Among them, ear eczema is the most serious one. Let’s take a look at what to do if you have ear eczema?

This disease is more common in summer and is more common in people with allergic constitutions. The incidence rate in infants and young children is higher than in adults. It often occurs in the folds behind the ear, showing erythema, exudation, cracking and crusting, sometimes with seborrheic properties. Often bilaterally symmetrical. Eczema caused by otitis media or ear picking may have more or less purulent secretions and pus scabs. Injuries caused by glasses frames and earrings are mostly limited to the contact areas.

1. Eliminate the cause

(1) Although the cause of eczema is not easy to determine, we should still inquire about the medical history in detail, conduct necessary systematic examinations, try to find out the possible causes, and eliminate them.

(2) People with allergic constitutions should not only avoid contact with substances that are likely to cause allergies in terms of food, clothing, housing, transportation, etc. (see allergens in the causes for details), but should also strengthen physical exercise to improve their allergic constitution.

2. Avoid irritants

Once eczema occurs, patients should try to avoid irritants, including scratching, washing with boiling water, scrubbing with soap, drinking alcohol and eating spicy food, so as not to aggravate the condition of eczema.

Early diagnosis and early treatment

Based on the clinical characteristics of eczema, including severe itching, polymorphic lesions, tendency to exudation, predisposition to flexion of the limbs, and easy recurrence, the diagnosis can be easily made. Densely distributed red papules and papulovesicles accompanied by severe itching can help in the early treatment of eczema. Since most early eczema is in the acute or subacute stage, topical medication treatment should follow the corresponding principles.
