In particular, if symptoms such as burning pain in the stomach and loss of appetite appear, it can be basically determined that it is gastric yin deficiency, and the patient should receive scientific treatment based on the cause.

1. Causes

It is mostly due to the late stage of febrile disease, which causes the loss of stomach yin, or emotional depression, which causes qi stagnation to turn into fire and burns the stomach yin, or excessive vomiting and diarrhea, which damages body fluids, or excessive consumption of spicy, fragrant and dry foods, or excessive use of warm and dry medicines, which damages the stomach yin.

2. Symptoms

A dull burning pain in the stomach, hunger but no desire to eat, or a noisy stomach, or a feeling of fullness and discomfort, or retching or nausea, dry mouth and throat, dry stool, difficulty in defecation, as well as scanty urine and a red tongue with little fluid. The diagnosis of this syndrome is mainly based on the co-existence of epigastric noise, burning pain, loss of appetite and symptoms of deficiency-heat.

3. Symptom Analysis

The stomach likes moisture and hates dryness, and the best way to feel smooth is to descend. Insufficient stomach yin, internal generation of virtual heat, heat stagnates in the stomach, and qi fails to harmonize and descend, resulting in dull pain in the epigastrium with a burning sensation, noisy discomfort, and bloating; the virtual heat in the stomach disturbs food, resulting in rapid digestion, and a feeling of hunger; while stomach yin fails to nourish and digestion is slow, resulting in hunger but no appetite; while the stomach fails to harmonize and descend, stomach qi rises upward, and dry retching and hiccups may be seen; while stomach yin is deficient and yin fluid cannot nourish upward, resulting in dry mouth and throat; while it cannot moisten the intestines downward, resulting in dry and hard stools and scanty urine; the tongue is red with little coating and fluid, and the pulse is thin and rapid, which are signs of yin fluid deficiency.

Lack of stomach yin can easily lead to gastrointestinal diseases such as loss of appetite, indigestion, abdominal distension, gastrointestinal stagnation, abdominal pain, abdominal discomfort, nausea and vomiting. Treatment principle: Nourish yin and harmonize the stomach, while clearing stomach heat. Main recipe: Yiwei Decoction. Commonly used medicines: Adenophora Root, Ophiopogon japonicus, White Peony Root, Chinese Yam, Dendrobium Officinale, Radix Trichosanthis, Honey, and Pueraria lobata.

1. Eat a healthy diet

You can eat more wheat, milk, eggs, pork, duck meat, etc. which can nourish stomach yin, as well as white fungus, bird's nest, loquat, pear, apple, tomato, black plum, tofu, etc. which can nourish stomach fluid. Avoid spicy and irritating foods such as leeks, mustard greens, chili peppers, dried ginger, peppercorns, garlic, etc. Drink less white wine and more boiled water.

2. Exercise and conditioning

Appropriate physical exercise. Such as jogging, walking, ballroom dancing, Tai Chi, Five Elements Exercises, etc., can increase the gastrointestinal function of the human body, strengthen gastrointestinal motility, increase the secretion of digestive juice, promote food digestion and absorption of nutrients, and can improve the blood circulation of the gastrointestinal tract itself, promote metabolism, and delay the aging of the digestive system.

3. Massage therapy

Massage the toes clockwise 40 to 80 times a day, focusing on the second toe, which is good for relieving stomach pain and nourishing the stomach;

Every night after going to bed, rub your hands to warm them up, place your palms (Laogong point) on your navel, and massage them 60 times each in clockwise and counterclockwise directions. After that, press the Zusanli point with your fingers to strengthen the spleen and stomach.
