Eyes are organs that people use to perceive objects and are one of the most important organs in the human body. A lot of knowledge in the brain is acquired through the eyes, and the eyes are the windows to the soul. The eyes have a great influence on a person's mental state. We need to pay attention to eye care, otherwise we may develop symptoms such as hyperopia, myopia, and glaucoma. Here are some ways to take care of your eyes. 1 Reasonable ambient light Bright and soft light is very important for vision. On the contrary, if the light is poor (too bright, too dark, glare, reflection, etc.), especially when the ambient light is inappropriate in study, work and life where the eyes are used intensively, it will obviously affect vision. To this end, the country has established strict standards for lighting illumination in different indoor occasions [1] (for example, the illumination when reading/writing in a study room should be >300 Lux). However, most people do not have much knowledge about ambient light illumination (brightness) and human vision. If you really can't judge whether the brightness of the light in your home is appropriate, you can use an eye protection light pen or other illumination equipment to do some measurements. 2. Good close eye posture Close eye posture is another factor that affects the incidence of myopia. Bad habits such as riding in a car, lying in bed, or reading with your head tilted at a desk will increase the frequency and amplitude of eye adjustment and should be avoided as much as possible. When using your eyes at close range, it is best to stay still, sit upright, and place the book about 30 cm away from your eyes. Don’t watch TV too close: When watching TV, you should keep a distance of six to eight times the diagonal of the screen. 3. Shorten the time of using eyes at close range In addition to pathological factors, the vision loss of most students is due to the decline of eye accommodation function. Using the eyes at close range for a long time in poor ambient lighting can easily lead to a decrease in the eye's accommodation function, which in turn leads to decreased vision. Therefore, try to avoid prolonged and close-up use of the eyes, such as reading and writing, watching TV, using a computer, etc. It is best to limit the time you spend focusing on your eyes to 45-50 minutes each time, and then continue after a 10-15 minute break. When using your eyes at close range, make sure there is good ambient light brightness. 4. Increase outdoor exercise Doing more outdoor exercise can not only promote blood circulation in the eyes, but also give the eyes more time to look into the distance. It can also help relax the eye muscles/nerves. Its role in protecting vision is self-evident. |
