The correct way to use essential oils that very few people know

Essential oils are a common product in daily health care. They are absorbed by the skin through massage techniques to help the body lose weight or detoxify. There are many types of essential oils. The correct way to use essential oils is to dilute them and use massage techniques to allow them to be absorbed by the skin.

100% pure plant essential oil (pure essential oil): divided into single essential oil (also called single oil), compound essential oil (also called compound oil) and base oil (also called base oil).

A. Single essential oil (single oil): refers to a single variety of pure essential oil without any formula. It can be used alone or mixed, just like an unformulated single medicine.

PS: I don't recommend using single essential oils alone, because single essential oils are very pure and cannot be used directly on the skin. Please note that single essential oils cannot be applied directly to the skin! This is very dangerous to the skin, and excessive use may cause more serious consequences. If you have no experience in using essential oils, please do not try to buy single essential oils and DIY them yourself.

B. Compound essential oil (compound oil): refers to a formula essential oil that is prepared by combining several single essential oils and can be used immediately. Generally, it is made by research and development manufacturers who study the characteristics and chemical properties of various essential oils, and then combine and blend them into finished products. It is more convenient to use, just like a ready-made medicine.

PS: Compound essential oils are diluted and formulated by professionals. They are effective, safe and convenient to use, and have no side effects. They can be directly applied to the face, hands, feet and other parts. Note that compound essential oils can be used directly on the skin, including the face. They are very safe and can even be used to improve originally bad skin. Sensitive skin can also be cared for with special compound essential oils to improve it. They can be used for beauty, weight loss, breast enhancement, etc. The effect is obvious and has been increasingly recognized around the world. Surveys have shown that compound essential oils are recognized as the most effective and safest in the fields of beauty, weight loss, breast enhancement, etc.

C. Base oil: refers to a pure plant carrier oil used to blend one or several high-concentration essential oils (not suitable for direct application on the skin). After blending with the base oil, it can be used directly on the body by massage or other methods.

Method 1: Steam fumigation

Pour clean water into the water container of the aromatherapy burner and add 5-6 drops of essential oil. Light the candle and place it in the aromatherapy burner, and wait for the heat to slowly release the essential oil in the water. By mixing different essential oils and dropping them into the aromatherapy burner, different effects can be achieved, which helps to create different atmospheres.

Humidifier Aromatherapy

Add 5-8 drops of essential oil directly into the water tank of the humidifier, and let the essential oil be released into the air with the water mist of the humidifier.

Heater Aromatherapy

Dip a cotton ball in essential oil and place it where the heating duct emits heat, so that the essential oil can be released into the air with the heater.

Method 2: Inhalation

(I) Home inhalation method

Pour nearly boiling water into a glass or porcelain basin. Choose 1-3 essential oils and drop them into the hot water, with a total of no more than six drops. Stir the essential oils thoroughly. Cover your entire head and washbasin with a large bath towel, and breathe alternately through your mouth and nose for 5-10 minutes. 2 drops of lavender + 2 drops of mint can treat colds.

(ii) Simple inhalation method

Put 1-3 drops of essential oil on a face towel or handkerchief and smell it

(3) People who drive long distances easily become fatigued in their sense of smell, so it is necessary to prepare two or three essential oils and use them alternately to achieve the desired effect (mint, basil, rosemary, etc. are very effective).

Method 3: Massage

Health massage generally starts from the back. Place your hands on both sides of the spine above the buttocks, palms facing down, and move along both sides of the vertebrae toward the shoulders. When you reach the neck, extend your hands outward, massaging both sides of the ribs while massaging the shoulders, and then return to the starting point. The massage must be done in one go and never stop in the middle. Dilute 2-3 kinds of essential oils (a total of 3 drops) in 3-4 ml of vegetable massage oil and massage the face, head, neck, shoulders or body.

Massage can enhance blood circulation and eliminate toxins from the body. Different essential oils have different therapeutic effects. It is recommended to go to a professional beauty salon and use them under the guidance of professionals.

When pure plant essential oils come into direct contact with the skin, it is often easy to cause skin allergies due to the high concentration. Therefore, when massaging, we must use diluted essential oils. The thing used to dilute pure plant essential oils is the so-called "carrier oil". The base oil must be a non-volatile and chemically unrefined plant oil, such as sweet almond oil, extra virgin olive oil, castor oil, jojoba oil, wheat germ oil, etc. These oils are odorless and rich in vitamins D, E, iodine, calcium, magnesium, fat, etc. They can balance and stabilize the essential oils and help them be quickly absorbed by the skin. Ordinary cooking oils are usually chemically refined and have lost these nutrients, making them less suitable as base oils for dilution. As for mineral oils refined from petroleum, such as baby oil, they are not suitable as base oils, because this type of mineral oil not only contains no nutrients, but also easily clogs pores, causing acne and abscesses. When used for massage with essential oils, it will hinder the skin's absorption of the essential oils.

The blending ratio, generally speaking, the amount of essential oil used is about 0.5% to 3%. For sensitive parts such as the face or massage for children under 12 years old, it is about 0.5% to 1%. For severe muscle pain, 3% can be used. The concentration we usually use for face is 1%, which is 3 ml of base oil with 1 drop of essential oil, and for body is 2%, which is 10 ml of base oil with 5 drops of essential oil.

According to personal needs and changes in physical constitution and physiology, the base oil and the type and proportion of pure plant essential oils can be adjusted at any time to formulate appropriate massage oils. Massage techniques (acupressure, lymphatic drainage, etc.) can be used to penetrate the plant essential oils into the body to achieve the purpose of health care or treatment.
