What are the symptoms of throat polyps?

Throat polyps can have a very bad impact on your life and career that requires speaking. Polyps in the throat not only affect a person's normal breathing, but also cause snoring during sleep. If you have polyps in your throat, you may not be able to sing with the sound quality you want; your voice may lack appeal when you give a speech; and you may feel pain in your throat after only a few minutes of speaking in class. Throat polyps must be treated surgically.

1. Foreign body sensation:

Vocal cord polyps are often accompanied by dryness, discomfort, itching, and a foreign body sensation in the throat. Throat pain occurs when the voice is used too much, and in severe cases, breathing difficulties may occur. The foreign body sensation in the throat makes many patients suspect that they have a tumor in their throat or esophagus, which brings great psychological pressure and burden to patients.

2. Difficulty breathing

Vocal cord polyps are usually accompanied by symptoms such as hoarseness, aphonia, dry and itchy throat, and pain. If the vocal cord polyps are too large, they can seriously block the glottis and cause dangerous breathing difficulties.

3. Hoarseness:

Vocal cord polyps often occur on the front and middle edges of the vocal cords, with smooth polyp-like tissue on the surface. Patients with pedicles often move up and down with breathing. Symptoms of vocal cord polyps are usually hoarseness. Localized vocal cord polyps only show voice changes because the polyps are small. Vocal cord polyps with a wide base have more severe hoarseness symptoms, and sometimes even aphonia. Vocal cord polyps will show different degrees of hoarseness due to the size of the polyps. Mild cases will have intermittent voice changes, easy fatigue in voice, dull and rough timbre, difficulty in high notes, and easy to go out of tune when singing. Severe cases will show hoarseness and even aphonia.
