The effect of hypothenar

The effect of hypothenar

The thenar eminence and hypothenar eminence are both parts of the hand that play a very important role. The thenar eminence is mainly located in the area from the base of the thumb to the bottom of the palm, while the hypothenar eminence is mainly located in the area from the base of the little finger to the base of the palm. Both the thenar and hypothenar eminence play an important controlling function on the human palm. Now let’s take a look at the related functions of the hypothenar eminence on the palm.

The effect of massage on the thenar acupoint

Acupoint explanation: ji, edge. Therefore, the point is located on the edge of the extensor pollicis brevis and the thumb opponens muscle. The muscles here are bulging and shaped like a fish belly, and it is where the red and white flesh meet, hence the name.

Simple location: in the depression behind the first metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb, approximately on the radial side of the midpoint of the first metacarpal bone, at the junction of red and white flesh. Or take the side of your palm, slightly clench your palm, bend the wrist slightly downward, and it is at the junction of the red and white flesh at the midpoint of the first metacarpal bone.

Anatomical location: at the location of the abductor pollicis brevis and the thumb opponens muscles; the blood vessels are branches of the thumb vein; there are mixed branches of the lateral antebrachial cutaneous nerve and the superficial branch of the radial nerve.

Functions and indications: Since acupoints are often distributed with nerves, it is not advisable to perform acupuncture on your own.
