What are the dangers of a small pulse pressure difference

Under normal circumstances, there is a certain difference in people's pulse pressure. A small pulse pressure difference is mainly caused by abnormal contraction of the lumen of the arterioles. It is generally the most common early symptom of hypertension. If it is serious, mitral valve stenosis may also occur. It should be noted that a small pulse pressure difference is extremely harmful to the human body and may very likely lead to diseases such as stroke.

1. The pressure difference between systolic pressure and diastolic pressure is called pulse pressure. The normal value is about 40 mmHg. Under normal circumstances, the pulse pressure difference of a normal person is 20~60 mmHg (2.67~8.0Kpa). A pressure difference greater than 60 mmHg is called excessive pulse pressure, and a pressure difference less than 20 mmHg is called too small.

2. A small pulse pressure difference is caused by a decrease in the elasticity and compliance of peripheral blood vessels. The decrease in vascular elasticity is mainly caused by the deposition of a large amount of lipids and calcium salts under the vascular intima and the proliferation of the smooth muscle layer in the middle layer of the vascular intima. In addition to being regulated, these processes are also affected by multiple factors such as the patient's age, gender, endocrine system, lipid metabolism, and glucose metabolism. Generally speaking, the older you are, the fatter you are, the thicker your blood is, or you have diabetes or hyperlipidemia, the elasticity of your blood vessels will decrease significantly.

3. The treatment of excessively small pressure difference mainly relies on softening blood vessels, dilating blood vessels, lowering lipids, lowering blood sugar, reducing blood viscosity, preventing thrombosis, increasing capillary interstitial permeability and anti-aging, etc.

4. Generally speaking, the older you are, the obese you are, the higher your blood viscosity is, or you have diabetes or hyperlipidemia, the elasticity of your blood vessels will decrease significantly. We should enhance our awareness of self-care, take precautions before they occur, check our blood pressure regularly, correct problems promptly when discovered, lead a regular life, keep a normal daily routine, pay attention to our diet, and exercise actively.
