Can familial cold urticaria be cured?

Whenever winter comes, the incidence of cold urticaria is high. In recent years, the treatment of this disease has always been the focus of experts. This type of disease also has a certain family heredity. This disease often occurs in infancy and should be treated promptly if it occurs, but many parents are concerned about whether familial cold urticaria can be cured.

1. In severe cases of cold urticaria, in addition to wheals and lumps, there are also numbness of the lips and hands, abdominal pain, shortness of breath, palpitations, diarrhea or fainting. Sometimes eating cold food may cause swelling in the mouth or larynx.

2. Familial cold urticaria often occurs in infancy and can be seen as early as within 1 week after birth. There are also cases where the disease occurs later, and the specific age is uncertain. Patients develop a rash half an hour to four hours after exposure to cold. The rash is non-itchy and consists of erythema and wheals, accompanied by systemic symptoms such as fever, fear of cold, joint pain, and headache.

3. The treatment of familial cold urticaria is relatively difficult and requires starting with adjusting the body's immune function. Drugs can only play a role in controlling the disease. The treatment of cold urticaria can only be guaranteed by improving the allergic constitution. In order to completely improve the allergic constitution and enhance the efficacy, traditional Chinese medicine can be used to treat familial cold urticaria.

Cold urticaria is the most common type of physical urticaria and can occur at any age. There are two types: familial and acquired. The former is an autosomal dominant inheritance, which can occur after birth or in early years and can last a lifetime. The latter is more common in young women. The characteristic of this disease is that after contact with cold water or other cold substances, itchy edema and wheals appear in the cold area, which disappear in about half an hour to an hour. It often occurs in exposed parts such as the face and hands, and in severe cases other parts of the body may also be affected. The mucous membranes of the mouth, tongue, pharynx, etc. may also become edematous and even cause abdominal pain when exposed to cold food or drinks. Treatment is to eliminate the cause. Antibiotics are often needed if there is an infection, and certain foods should be avoided if there are allergies. Chronic infection is often the cause of chronic urticaria.
