What should I do if I have suppurative pulpitis?

The impact of purulent pulpitis is relatively large, especially the pain is also quite obvious. In treatment, we must adhere to scientific treatment principles. At the same time, we must pay attention to oral health and hygiene in life, prevent tooth decay, have a diversified diet, and rinse your mouth and brush your teeth after meals.

1. Treatment principles

To preserve the vital pulp or the affected tooth, emergency treatment can be pulpotomy to reduce pressure. After rinsing with warm salt water, place analgesics (such as camphor phenol, eugenol or small cotton balls such as toothache water) in the caries cavity to temporarily relieve the pain. At the same time, take anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs. 1 to 2 days after the pain is relieved, depending on the specific situation of the affected tooth, choose: ① vital pulpotomy; ② pulp planing; ③ pulp replacement or root canal treatment. Teeth with no preservation value can be extracted

2. Oral hygiene

Brush your teeth every morning and evening or after eating, rinse your mouth after meals, and promptly remove food debris and bacteria left in your mouth. Using fluoride toothpaste can help prevent caries.

Children's diet should be diversified, and eating some hard and tough foods can promote the growth and development of their jaws and teeth. Don't let children go to bed with candy in their mouths, because the sugar becomes sour in the mouth and can easily corrode the teeth and cause caries.

Children aged 6 to 12 years old should have their permanent teeth sealed in time after they erupt. That is, the pits and fissures of the teeth should be sealed with a layer of resin material to prevent harmful substances such as food debris and bacteria from entering the tooth body, thereby preventing caries.

3. Treatment of food impaction in teeth

Malpositioned wisdom teeth and teeth with food impaction should be treated promptly, and inappropriate dentures and braces should be dealt with promptly.

4. Oral examination

Have regular dental check-ups.

5. Treatment of dental caries

Shallow cavities should be filled with appropriate materials after removing the damaged tooth substance to prevent further decay; deep cavities with caries should be treated appropriately according to the specific situation. For pulpitis or apical periodontitis caused by caries, it is necessary to eliminate the bacterial infection in the pulp cavity or around the tooth root and save the tooth through root canal treatment. Residual crowns and roots that have lost their therapeutic value should be removed and replaced in a timely manner.
