Is reflux esophagitis serious? What harm will it bring?

Reflux esophagitis is a common digestive tract disease that cannot be ignored. If patients do not receive treatment for a long time, they will experience itching and ulcers in the intestines, and severe cases may lead to bleeding. If it continues for a long time, it will cause anemia in the body.

Hazard 1: Bleeding and anemia. Severe esophagitis may cause erosion of the esophageal mucosa and bleeding, which is mostly chronic and small-scale bleeding. Prolonged or heavy bleeding can lead to iron deficiency anemia.

Hazard 2: Reflux esophagitis refers to inflammation, erosion, ulceration, fibrosis and other lesions of the esophageal mucosa caused by the reflux of gastric and (or) duodenal contents into the esophagus. It is a type of gastroesophageal reflux disease. The clinical manifestations of reflux esophagitis are burning sensation or pain behind the sternum; gastric and esophageal reflux; difficulty in swallowing; bleeding and anemia.

prevention

1. Avoid drinking and quitting smoking: Tobacco contains nicotine, which can reduce the pressure of the lower esophageal sphincter, causing it to relax and aggravate reflux. The main component of alcohol is ethanol, which not only stimulates gastric acid secretion, but also relaxes the lower esophageal sphincter, which is one of the causes of gastroesophageal reflux.

2. Pay attention to eating small meals frequently and eating a low-fat diet to reduce the frequency of reflux symptoms after eating. On the contrary, a high-fat diet can promote the release of cholecystokinin from the small intestinal mucosa, which can easily lead to reflux of gastrointestinal contents.

3. Do not eat too much for dinner and avoid lying down immediately after a meal. 4. Obese people should lose weight. Because excessive obesity increases abdominal pressure, which can promote gastric reflux, especially in the supine position, it is more serious. Therefore, people should actively lose weight to improve reflux symptoms. 5. Keep a good mood and increase appropriate physical exercise.
