Many children's myopia is false. How to distinguish between false myopia and true myopia? You can use the method of dilation of the pupil. In daily life, you should do a good job in preventing false myopia, protect your eyes, have the correct posture when studying, exercise more, and increase nutrition. 1. How to distinguish true from false myopia? (1) Cloud and fog method First, let the patient wear a convex lens with a higher degree and look at the eye chart 5 meters away. This can relax the patient's ciliary muscles that are in spasm and eliminate the accommodative effect. Patients may experience blurred vision at first, but after a few minutes, vision will become clearer. Later, gradually reduce the power of the convex lens (when changing lenses, the second lens must be put on before the first lens can be removed). If the vision returns to normal or is significantly improved compared to before the test when it is reduced to a plain lens with no power, it proves that it is pseudomyopia, or partial pseudomyopia exists. (2) Mydriasis Generally, teenagers under the age of 14 have too strong accommodation ability, so they often use the method of dilation of the pupil to paralyze the accommodation for eye examination. Use 1% to 2% atropine to dilate the pupil, twice a day for 3 to 4 days. For those over 14 years old, 2% homatropine eye drops can be used, once every 10 minutes, for 4 to 6 times; rapid mydriatic tropicamide eye drops can also be used, once every 5 minutes, for 3 to 4 times. If the vision after dilation is better than before dilation, or has returned to normal vision, it means that there is a component of pseudomyopia, or it is completely pseudomyopia. 2. How to prevent pseudomyopia 1. Improve the environment and keep a distance of 30 cm and correct posture when reading and writing. Pay attention to natural light and ensure adequate lighting indoors. Combine work and rest, change bad study habits, take a 10-15 minute break after every hour of reading, and do not read while lying down or walking. Pay attention to strengthening physical exercise. 2. Do not read or write in dim light to reduce the burden on students. Ensure 10 minutes of rest between classes to reduce visual fatigue. Actively carry out physical exercise to ensure that students have one hour of physical activity every day. Teach students to write words not too small or too densely, and especially not to write slanted or cursive. 3. Don’t write for too long. Do eye exercises carefully. When watching TV, pay attention to the height of the TV set should be at eye level; the distance between the eyes and the screen should not be less than 5 times the diagonal length of the screen; when watching TV, a low-power electric light should be turned on in the room to protect eyesight; after watching TV for 1 to 1.5 hours, take a short break, look into the distance, and do eye exercises; 4. You should eat more foods rich in vitamin A, such as various vegetables, animal liver, egg yolk, etc. Myopia should be prevented and treated in different levels, and it should be treated early and in its early stages. 5. Carry out physical exercise and increase outdoor activities. |
