What should I do if my baby has hemangioma on his tongue? Treatment of baby's tongue hemangioma

Hemangioma is very common in babies. The most common tumor is cavernous hemangioma, which is also common on the tongue. Generally, in the early stages of the tumor, the tumor will appear as a nodular protrusion and the tongue will appear noticeably enlarged. If not treated in time, as the hemangioma grows, it will cause difficulty breathing and affect speech pronunciation.

Treatment of baby's tongue hemangioma

1. Injection therapy

What should I do if my baby has hemangioma on his tongue? Injection therapy is an option. It refers to the injection of a sclerosing agent into the tumor. Commonly used drugs include 5% sodium morrhuate, bleomycin, bleomycin, and glucocorticoids. However, there are possible risks, such as local skin necrosis, infection, or scar formation.

2. Radiation therapy

Radiotherapy, also commonly known as radionuclide therapy, currently commonly uses 32P, 90Sr, X-rays, and 60cobalt, etc. It has high requirements in terms of irradiation dose and reasonable time arrangement, and will have a great impact on the baby's bone development. It may also cause cataracts or the risk of cancer, so it is rarely used clinically.

3. Laser treatment

At present, the lasers used to treat infantile hemangiomas include pulsed dye laser, YAG laser, photodynamic therapy, and intense pulsed light system. Due to the limitations of laser penetration depth, it cannot effectively damage the full layer of tissue of the hemangioma. Therefore, laser treatment is only suitable for early treatment and only for the treatment of superficial and small hemangiomas.

4. Hormone therapy

Glucocorticoids have a definite therapeutic effect in the treatment of infantile hemangiomas. The therapeutic mechanism is that rapidly growing hemangiomas contain relatively high levels of estradiol receptors, which promote the formation and development of hemangiomas. Hormones can cause the estradiol receptors in hemangiomas to compete effectively and bind, thereby inhibiting the proliferation of hemangiomas.
