What are the symptoms of thyroid tumors

The thyroid gland is a very important gland in the human body. The occurrence of thyroid tumors can have serious effects on endocrine system. Common symptoms include neck swelling, difficulty breathing, hoarseness, etc. Thyroid tumors require prompt diagnosis and treatment.

Common Symptoms of Thyroid Cancer

1. In the early stage, patients have symptoms of swollen neck and local tumors, and the surface of the tumor is bumpy, fixed and hard. As the disease progresses, the tumor will grow larger and compress the trachea, causing difficulty breathing, hoarseness, a feeling of obstruction when swallowing, or swelling of nearby lymph glands.

2. Papillary carcinoma grows the slowest. Clinically, apart from palpable thyroid nodules and local lymph node enlargement, other symptoms are very few. When the tumor is small and located deep in the thyroid gland, it is generally difficult to detect. Follicular cell carcinoma presents as nodular thyroid tumors, most commonly single nodules that are hard as stone and can involve the entire thyroid lobe. In the later stages, erosion of adjacent tissues, pain, and distant metastasis may occur. Follicular cell carcinoma and its metastases have the ability to absorb iodine and occasionally cause hyperthyroidism.

3. Undifferentiated carcinoma manifests as enlarged thyroid nodules and pain. It erodes adjacent tissues and can cause hoarseness, respiratory distress, and difficulty swallowing. The lumps are often tender, hard as a rock, adhered and fixed to the surrounding tissues, causing local lymph node enlargement and may also metastasize to distant sites.
